What to include in your request
- What to do — felling, pruning, crown reduction, stump removal.
- Height and girth — for example, 50 ft, trunk diameter 2 ft. If you don't know exactly, write an estimate and add a photo.
- Species and number of trees.
- Site conditions — roof, wires, wall, narrow access, whether a climber or a crane is needed.

What to agree before the work starts
Ask whether clearing up is included in the price: branches and sawdust are a lot of rubbish. Find out who is responsible for damage if something falls on a roof or wall, and whether the crew has insurance and the right equipment. Trees near power lines are dangerous, so discuss the wires beforehand. In many cities you need permission from the local authority to fell a tree, so check this locally.
