Veterinary medicines: how to buy what you need at a better price

Diagnosis and dose first, not the price

A veterinary medicine is chosen for the species, weight, age and the specific task: protection from fleas and ticks, deworming, vitamins, vaccination or treatment. What is safe for a 25 kg dog may be unsuitable for a kitten. So it is better to agree the purpose, dose and schedule with a vet, and give the ready name or active ingredient in your request.

Do not buy or use antibiotics and prescription medicines without a doctor's advice. This applies to farm animals too.

Form and your pet's weight

  • Chewable tablets for fleas and ticks protect for a month or longer, depending on the product.
  • Spot-on drops are convenient for cats, but it is important to apply them to dry skin in a place the animal cannot reach with its tongue.
  • Collars work for a long time, but do not suit everyone and can irritate the skin.
  • Injections are given by a vet, and powders for drinking water are used in poultry keeping.
  • The dose depends on weight: a pack “for dogs 20–40 kg” will not suit a 5 kg dog.

What to put in your request

  • purpose — against fleas and ticks, worms, a vaccine, vitamins;
  • for whom — species, weight and age of the animal;
  • medicine — brand name or active ingredient;
  • form — tablets, drops, collar, spray;
  • quantity — tablets, pipettes or millilitres;
  • expiry date, for example at least a year;
  • budget and delivery city.

Example: “I need 3 chewable flea and tick tablets for a 25 kg dog, with at least a year to expiry. Manila, courier delivery. Budget up to ₱2,500.”

How to compare offers

Check the exact name, dose and number of doses in the pack, because the price difference may hide right there. Check the expiry date and storage conditions. For vaccines and medicines that need to be kept cold, the seller should explain how they will be delivered. Suspiciously cheap offers without a photo of the packing and batch details are best skipped: fakes exist.

Also ask whether it is the original packing, where the supply comes from, and whether there is a bill.

How it works on BlaBlaPrice

You describe what you need once on BlaBlaPrice, and vet pharmacies and shops reply in the chat: price, stock, expiry, delivery. The platform shows the best-value offer first, and sellers see their place among the others. Your phone number stays hidden until you choose a seller. More on the How it works page.

For toys, food and accessories there is the “Pet supplies” section.

Questions and answers

Can I buy a veterinary medicine without seeing a doctor?

People often buy simple flea and tick products themselves, but the dose and the choice are best checked with a vet. Use antibiotics only on prescription.

What should I look at in an offer besides the price?

The exact name, dose, number of doses, expiry date and original packing. For some medicines, also the storage conditions during delivery.

Is a medicine for dogs suitable for a cat?

Not always. Some products are toxic to cats, so use only those meant for your species and weight.
