Audi parts from breakers: how to order without overpaying
Audi: where it is easiest to go wrong
Within one Audi model you can find different engines, gearboxes, quattro or front-wheel drive, and different lamps. An ordinary A6 C6 and the same model after a facelift often have different headlights, bumpers and tail lamps. So “a door for an Audi A6” is too little for a seller.
The most popular requests are body parts, lamps, 2.7 TDI or 3.0 TDI engines, gearboxes and electronics. Each category has its own details.
Colour and PR codes
For body parts the colour matters. The paint code is usually in the service book and on the plate in the boot, for example metallic grey LY7G. The boot also has a sticker with the PR codes of the trim, and from them a breaker quickly understands whether a part fits: which headlights, which seats, which drive.
What to put in your request
- Car model — with the generation, for example Audi A6 C6;
- Which part — for example, the boot lid;
- Year and facelift or pre-facelift;
- Engine — for example 2.7 TDI;
- Side — for example rear left door;
- Colour or paint code;
- Condition of the part — no dents or cracks;
- VIN — to check the trim;
- Delivery city and budget.
Example: “Audi A6 C6, 2007, 2.7 TDI, I need a rear left door in colour LY7G with no dents or cracks, preferably with the window regulator. VIN WAUZZZ4F07N123456. Courier delivery to Gqeberha, budget up to R 2,300.”
How to compare offers
A door, bonnet or wing without paint is cheaper, but a part already painted in your colour saves you the cost of a paint job. Ask whether the part is complete: a door normally comes with the glass, lock and wiring. For electronics (control units, panels, multimedia) the unit must match by number, because some need coding to a specific car.
For an engine or gearbox, find out the mileage of the donor car and ask whether there is a start-up video and a warranty for testing.
If you need a part for an S-tronic or another gearbox with electronic control, give the gearbox number and year, because units that look alike differ in gear ratios. Mirrors and headlights with heating or LEDs have different connectors.
What BlaBlaPrice gives you
You describe the part once in a request on BlaBlaPrice, and breakers answer in the chat with a price, the condition and delivery. The platform shows the best-value offer first, with reviews next to the sellers. They can see where they stand and compete, so the price often comes out better. Contacts are opened only to the seller you choose. It is all explained on the How it works page.
Audi is often compared with BMW, and all makes are collected in Car breakers (used parts).
