Daewoo parts from breakers: Lanos, Nexia, Matiz and more
Old cars, but plenty of parts
Daewoo models are mostly the Lanos, Nexia, Matiz, Leganza, Nubira and Gentra. These cars went out of production long ago, so new original parts are often hard to find, and a breaker becomes the main source. For many units it is also the cheapest option, especially for the body.
Where to look for compatible parts
The Nexia grew out of the Opel Kadett E, so some units (engines, certain assemblies) may match across related models. But do not assume this blindly: check the number and the mountings. The Lanos came in 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 versions, and the Nexia with 8-valve and 16-valve engines, and the hoses, belts and covers depend on that.
What to put in your request
- Car model — for example Daewoo Lanos;
- Which part — for example the front door;
- Year;
- Engine — for example 1.5 petrol;
- Side — for example front left;
- Colour — metallic green or another;
- Condition of the part — no dents or cracks;
- VIN, for example SUPTF69YD8W123456;
- Delivery city and budget.
Example: “I need a front left door for a 2008 Daewoo Lanos, metallic green, with no dents or serious rust, with the lock and window regulator. Courier delivery to Gqeberha, budget up to R 580.”
What to watch for
For old cars the body's main enemy is rust, and in humid or coastal areas it spreads faster. Ask for photos of the sill edges, the bottom of the doors and the wheel arches. The colour of a Lanos changes over the years, so if you want a part to be painted, it is better to take it in the same shade. For units, ask about mileage and why it was removed.
If you are buying several parts, agree on a set at once: delivery usually gets cheaper per item.
Small parts are in great demand for the Matiz: headlights, mirrors, bumpers and running gear. For the Leganza and Nubira the market is smaller, so allow a little more time for the search. If you need a rare part, keep the request active: it runs for 7 days and can be extended if needed.
