How to find an accountant: full books, payroll, returns
The area of accounting and your tax status
An entry-level accountant enters bills and vouchers. A payroll accountant calculates salaries and files returns. A senior accountant keeps the full cycle and answers for the returns filed with the tax department. A sole proprietor on a simple regime needs one set of skills, and a limited company registered for sales tax needs quite another: tax invoices, input tax credit, periodic returns. So always state your type of business and tax status in the request.
What to put in the request
- Area of accounting — full books, vouchers and bills, payroll, tax returns.
- Tax status — proprietorship, partnership or company; registered for sales tax or not.
- Software — QuickBooks, Xero, Excel, net banking.
- Salary — monthly amount, bonuses separately.
- Place of work — city, office or remote, for example Dubai or remote.
- Hours — full day or part time, for example four hours.
- Terms — on the payroll, as a freelancer, full or part time.
- Experience — in years and in which sector.
Example request
“A company in Dubai registered for sales tax needs a part-time accountant. Bills and vouchers, tax invoices and returns, salary calculation. QuickBooks and Excel. At least 3 years of experience, remote work possible. Official part-time employment, pay from AED 880 a month.”
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write the job once, without posting it on different sites. The request is checked for ads and contact details, and you get hints on what else to add. Then accountants in your region reply in the chat with experience, software, expected pay and joining date. BlaBlaPrice shows the strongest replies first, and the reviews of each candidate are visible next to the reply. Your phone is hidden, and you do not pay for the search. Read more on the “How it works” page.
What to look for
Ask whether the candidate has handled tax notices and meetings with the tax officer. A calm answer about a real case is worth more than general words.
For a small company, a sensible alternative to a full-time accountant is a part-time or remote one. Ask what volume of documents the candidate has handled and how often they dealt with notices or scrutiny. Also ask them to describe their last filing season: did they file themselves, were there errors, and how did they fix them.
Agree on access: net banking, digital signature and the accounting software. This is a matter of trust, so discuss at once who signs. If you need an outside check rather than bookkeeping, look for an auditor.
