Accounting: say what exactly you’re looking for

Choose a subcategory in “Accounting” — so the request goes to the sellers who actually sell this.

How to find an accountant or auditor for your business

In-house, outsourced or for one-off tasks

Before writing the vacancy, decide the format. A permanent in-house accountant makes sense when you have many source documents every day: stock, cash, payroll. A small sole proprietorship is often fine with a part-time person who keeps the books a few days a week or remotely. For a one-off job, such as restoring the books or filing overdue returns, you look for a specialist on a project basis.

The auditor is a separate case: he or she does not keep the books but checks them. You invite an auditor before an investor, a bank or the sale of a business, or when you want to understand where the “hole” in the numbers is.

What the candidate must be able to do

Write the requirements for your own tax setup. An accountant for a small business under a simplified tax scheme, for a regular tax-registered business and for a company that imports goods are three different skill sets. The software matters too: someone who works in QuickBooks does not necessarily know other accounting and filing tools. If you have payroll, ask separately about payroll records and statutory filings for employees.

What to put in the vacancy

  • Tax setup — tax registration, simplified tax scheme, regular filings.
  • Volume — number of documents, employees, cash transactions, any imports or exports.
  • Areas of work — source documents, payroll, tax records, returns, online banking.
  • Software — what the person keeps books in, or is ready to learn.
  • Format — office, remote, part-time.
  • Experience — in which industry, whether knowledge of specific returns is needed.
  • Pay — a salary or a fixed price for the service.

Example: “Need a part-time accountant for a sole proprietor with an online store in Dubai. Source documents, online banking, quarterly tax returns, up to 10 transactions a day. Can work remotely, paid monthly, start next week.”

How searching on BlaBlaPrice works

Instead of going through CVs and phoning people, you describe the task once and candidates reply to your request. It is checked before it is shown, and you are also told which details specialists lack. In the reply the person writes about experience, when they can start and what they expect to be paid. You exchange contacts only with the one you choose. The principle is explained on the “How it works” page; to begin, create a request.

What to look at in the replies

  • Whether the person has experience with your type of business, not just a general “I work as an accountant”.
  • Who is responsible for errors in the returns and whether this is written into the agreement.
  • Whether you keep copies of the accounting data, not only one employee.
  • Whether they can cover for a colleague during leave or illness.

Do not hand over digital signature keys without agreeing in writing who is responsible for what. For complex matters, such as tax scrutiny or restructuring, it is better to bring in a separate specialist.

Ask about the ordinary things that affect daily work. Does the person have experience with online banking and electronic document handling? How do they report on their work: weekly summaries, deadline alerts, tax reminders? Do they understand your industry: trade, services and manufacturing have different accounting subtleties. A trial month with clear criteria for results will show whether you suit each other, without risking your filings.

Questions and answers

How much time does an accountant need for a small business?

It depends on the number of transactions and the tax setup. It is better to describe the volume in the request, and the candidate will estimate how many days a week are needed.

How does an auditor differ from an accountant?

An accountant keeps the books and prepares returns; an auditor independently checks that they are correct. These are different tasks and different specialists.

Can I hire an accountant remotely?

Yes, many work remotely through online banking and online tools. Mention the format in the request so that suitable candidates reply.

Does the employer pay BlaBlaPrice?

For the person who posts the request, the service is free. Providers pay a small fee only when they are chosen.
