Women's shoes: choose a pair by size, season and price
You buy shoes with your feet, not your eyes
A pretty pair can turn out stiff, narrow or slippery, and the size on the box varies with the last, the country and the brand. So with women's shoes it makes sense to measure your foot first, then decide what the pair is for, and only then compare prices.
The section is split by type and season, so start with when you will wear the pair. For the cold months there are long and knee-high boots, ankle boots and fur-lined boots. For warm weather there are sandals and flip-flops. For daily walking there are trainers, canvas shoes and loafers. There are also heels and court shoes, orthopaedic and sports shoes and home slippers.
What to put in your request
- Type of shoe — pointed pumps, tall boots, running trainers, loafers.
- Size and foot length — in centimetres; it helps to add the width (narrow, standard, wide).
- Heel and sole — height, platform, flat sole, non-slip.
- Upper material — genuine leather, suede, nubuck, fabric, faux leather.
- Season and insulation — summer, rainy season, winter; fur, membrane, lining.
- Colour and style — classic, sporty, casual; a reference photo.
- Special needs — orthopaedic insoles, high instep, a bunion, standing for long hours.
- Brand, city, delivery and budget.
How to compare offers
You write a request on BlaBlaPrice, and shoe sellers answer in the chat: what they offer, at what price, whether your size is in stock and how they deliver. BlaBlaPrice compares the replies and puts the best one first by content, with seller reviews alongside. Sellers see their place among others and can improve their terms, so they compete for your request.
Compare the same material and season, otherwise the prices can't be put side by side. Leather boots with fur and thin fabric all-season ones are different products. Ask for the insole length in centimetres: it is more reliable than the size number. Also ask whether you can exchange the pair if it doesn't fit and who pays for shipping.
What to look at
- Genuine leather breathes and adapts to the foot, but costs more; faux leather is cheaper but wears out faster.
- For wet weather, the sole must not slip and the lining should not soak up water.
- A high heel is not for daily walking; a stable mid-height heel is more comfortable.
- For standing a lot or foot problems, choose orthopaedic shoes, and see an orthopaedist if you have pain.
When it is cheaper to buy
Winter shoes get cheaper in spring, and summer ones at the end of the season. If you don't need the latest collection, say in your request that you will consider last year's models or leftover sizes: prices on those are often lower. For narrow or large sizes the choice in shops is smaller, so through a request sellers can find the right pair for you themselves.
Common mistakes
Most often people buy a size up or down “just in case”. They also forget the socks or tights they will wear with the pair. Another mistake is trying shoes on in the morning, when the foot has not swelled yet: evening is better. For new shoes, ask about a warranty on the seams and the sole.
Look after your shoes too: leather and suede care products make a pair last longer. For the rest of the outfit, see women's clothing. Your contacts stay hidden, and only the seller you choose gets them.
