Body kits and tuning accessories: spoiler, lip, grille, trim

What body tuning is made of

Tuning is a set of separate parts, and each can be bought on its own. A spoiler on the boot lid or the roof changes the silhouette. A lip (front splitter) and a diffuser make a bumper look more aggressive. A radiator grille, mirror and headlight covers, headlight “eyelids” and carbon wrap are smaller but noticeable parts. A full body kit (bumpers, side skirts, spoiler) changes the car a lot and costs accordingly.

The material decides everything

ABS plastic is fairly strong, flexible and relatively cheap, and holds its shape well. Fibreglass is cheaper to make and suits small runs, but is more brittle and needs careful fitting. Polyurethane is flexible and takes small knocks, but is heavier. Carbon fibre is light and handsome, but expensive, and a carbon-look imitation is cheaper. For a daily car, springier materials that do not crack on kerbs are better.

Painting and fitting

Many parts are sold ready to paint (primed): then the paint and the painter's work add to the price of the part. A body colour match needs the paint code. Ready black gloss or matt parts are cheaper, but do not match the car's colour. Ask separately whether the part needs gluing, drilling or trimming to fit, and whether fitting is included. Poor fitting can leave gaps and spoil the panel alignment.

What to put in the request

  • What you need: spoiler, lip, body kit, grille, mirror or headlight covers, carbon wrap.
  • Model and year: for example Hyundai Tucson, 2018.
  • Material: ABS, fibreglass, carbon, polyurethane.
  • Colour: unpainted, black gloss or body colour.
  • Fitting: with fitting and painting, or you do it yourself.
  • Condition: new or used.
  • Delivery and budget.

Example: “I need a new ABS plastic spoiler for a 2018 Hyundai Tucson, black gloss, with fitting and trimming. Courier delivery to Kowloon, budget up to HK$750.”

How to compare offers

Ask for a photo of the part on your model and a guarantee of compatibility. Ask what is in the kit: fixings, tape, instructions. Find out whether painting is included. Before fitting, check that parts which change the car's dimensions are allowed under the local rules.

How BlaBlaPrice helps

You write one request, and sellers and technicians reply in the chat: what they offer, what the part and the fitting cost, when they will be ready. The site shows the best offer first, with reviews next to each. Sellers compete for your choice, so the price often turns out better. Your phone stays hidden. Details are on the “How it works” page.

To the look of your car you can also add roof racks, and see the rest in “Car accessories”.

Questions and answers

Which is better for a body kit: ABS or fibreglass?

ABS is stronger and more flexible, fibreglass is cheaper but more brittle and needs fitting. For a daily car, ABS is usually chosen.

Does a body kit need painting?

If the part is sold primed, it is painted to match the body. Ready black parts are cheaper, but the colour may differ.

Can I fit a body kit myself?

Simple covers you can, but large parts are better left to a technician. Say in the request that you need fitting.

Does the buyer pay for BlaBlaPrice?

No, the service is free for buyers.
