How to buy a suitcase or travel bag: offers from sellers

How many litres and what size you need

Start with the trip, not the brand. For a weekend, a bag or a small suitcase of 30–40 litres is enough, for a week a medium one of 60–70 litres, and for a family holiday or a move a large one of 90 litres and more. A small cabin suitcase on low-cost airlines is usually limited in size and weight, and every airline has its own rules, so check them before you buy.

Don't forget the weight of the suitcase itself. A heavy model “eats” part of your baggage allowance before you have packed anything.

Material and wheels

Polycarbonate is flexible and takes knocks, ABS is cheaper but can crack. Polypropylene is light and tough. Fabric ones (nylon, polyester) are softer, easier to squeeze into a car boot and have outside pockets, but protect fragile things less. Look at the wheels: four double spinner wheels turn through 360° and roll easily, while two wheels cope better on rough roads, which helps at railway stations and on uneven pavements. The telescopic handle should not wobble, and a TSA lock allows baggage to be inspected without breaking it.

What to put in your request

  • What exactly — wheeled suitcase, cabin bag, travel bag, set of suitcases, garment cover.
  • Size or capacity — S/M/L, litres or dimensions, for example 55×40×20 cm.
  • Material — polycarbonate, polypropylene, ABS, fabric.
  • Wheels and lock — number of wheels, TSA lock, expansion, USB port.
  • Brand — for example Samsonite, if you have already chosen.
  • Colour — dark is more practical, bright is easier to spot on the belt.
  • Condition — new or pre-owned.
  • Delivery city — or courier delivery.
  • Budget — if you want to name one.

Example: “I need a new 4-wheel polycarbonate suitcase, 60–70 litres, with a TSA lock and expansion, navy blue. Central, courier delivery. Budget up to HK$550.”

How to compare offers

The same price doesn't mean the same quality. Ask about the thickness of the shell, the weight of the empty suitcase, the warranty on the wheels and handle, and whether there is a cover or spare parts. For pre-owned, ask for photos of the locks, wheels and inner lining.

On BlaBlaPrice you write a request once, and sellers send offers in the chat themselves: what they offer, for how much, when they will deliver. The platform shows the best by content first, with seller reviews next to each. Sellers see their place among others, so they compete and improve their terms. Your phone number is hidden. More details are on the “How it works” page.

For shorter trips a backpack may be handier, and small things for the road go into a pouch or wallet. Everything is in the “Accessories” section.

Questions and answers

Which suitcase counts as cabin baggage?

It depends on the airline's rules: limits on size and weight differ. Check them on the carrier's website and write the dimensions in your request.

Which is better: polycarbonate or fabric?

Polycarbonate protects things better and is easier to clean; fabric is softer and holds more thanks to pockets. The choice depends on your trips.

Can I buy a pre-owned suitcase?

Yes, but ask for photos of the wheels, handle and locks, as these wear out first. You can state this in the request right away.

Can sellers see my phone number?

No, your contacts are hidden. You share them only with the seller you choose.
