How to find a freight dispatcher: experience, software, pay
A dispatcher holds the whole trip together
The dispatcher decides whether your trucks run empty, whether loads arrive on time and whether drivers get stuck at a border with no answer. So you need not just a person with a phone, but someone who understands the freight market, knows the rates and can negotiate with clients and drivers.
First decide what exactly you need: finding loads on freight exchanges, supporting drivers on the road, paperwork or all of it. Separately, say whether the focus is domestic freight across Malaysia, international freight or special equipment.
A 2-days-on, 2-off pattern with 12-hour shifts suits trucks that work round the clock. If trips run only in the daytime, a regular 5-day week is enough. Mention night calls too: drivers can be in touch at any hour, and the dispatcher must be ready for that.
What to put in the job post
- Direction — freight, covered trucks, refrigerated, tankers;
- Duties — finding loads, supporting drivers, preparing documents, working with clients;
- Pay — salary plus a percentage of the freight, bonuses;
- Software — freight exchanges and load-matching platforms, GPS tracking;
- Place of work — office or remote;
- Schedule — 5 days a week, shifts, 2 on and 2 off with 12 hours;
- Experience — in logistics, in this field, from one year;
- Paperwork — formal employment or contract.
Example: “Kuala Lumpur or remote. Freight dispatcher: finding loads, supporting drivers. 1+ year in logistics, experience with load-matching platforms and GPS tracking. 2 on and 2 off, 12-hour shifts, salary plus 5% of freight, formal employment.”
How this helps you find someone faster
Write one request on the home page in your own words: the site checks it, removes extra contacts and tells you what to add. Dispatchers from your region reply in chat: they tell you about their experience, the software they know and the salary they want. You choose, and only then share contacts. The principle is described on the How it works page.
How to check a dispatcher before the start
Ask for a real case: how he found a load in a difficult situation, what he did when a driver broke down on the road. Ask which types of cargo and routes he has worked with, and whether he can bargain over rates and negotiate.
If pay depends on a percentage of freight, write down how you calculate profit, when you pay and what is included in the base. That avoids arguments later.
If you are looking for dispatcher work
Register on BlaBlaPrice as a service provider, pick the category and region, and offers will reach you. Write about your experience, the software you know and the format: office or remote. Similar roles: logistics coordinator and freight forwarder.
