How to find a forklift operator for a warehouse: experience, shifts, pay

Not every forklift is the same

Working on an electric reach truck in high racking is not the same as moving pallets on a diesel forklift in a yard. The lifting heights, the speeds and the attention needed all differ. So the job post should say not just “forklift operator” but the type of machine and the warehouse where the person will work.

A good operator saves the warehouse money: fewer damaged pallets, faster dispatch, safer work around people. So describe the task honestly, so the candidate sees at once whether it suits them.

For night shifts, also consider lighting, the temperature at the loading area and whether there is a place to rest nearby. Candidates reply more willingly when they see that conditions were thought through in advance.

What to put in the request

  • Type of forklift — electric, diesel, gas, stacker, reach truck;
  • Licence or certificate — whatever is needed to operate that forklift;
  • Where to work — logistics centre, factory, wholesale warehouse;
  • Duties — unloading trucks, placing on racks, picking;
  • Schedule and shifts — day or night, shift length;
  • Pay — salary, bonuses, night allowance;
  • City and area — especially if the warehouse is outside the city;
  • Experience — a year, six months or none;
  • Paperwork — formal employment.

Example: “A logistics centre near Kuala Lumpur needs an electric forklift operator. Unloading trucks and placing goods on racks, night shifts, forklift operator certificate needed, 6+ months of experience. Salary from RM 980, formal employment.”

How to search through BlaBlaPrice

You write one request on the home page. It is checked and you get hints about details candidates are missing. Forklift operators from your region reply in chat: they tell you about their experience, when they can start and what pay they expect. You compare replies and choose; only the chosen person sees your contacts. This is explained in detail on the How it works page.

What to clarify before the start

Ask which models he has worked on and to what height he has lifted loads. Ask him to describe how he checks the machine before a shift and what he does if it develops a fault. For night shifts, ask whether he has worked such a schedule before.

Agree on safety training, an induction to the warehouse and how the machine is charged or refuelled. This helps avoid damage and injuries.

If your equipment is old, say so honestly: operators value a sound machine and timely servicing.

If you are an operator looking for a job

Register as a service provider, pick the category and region, and job posts will come to you by themselves. In your reply, say which machines you have worked on and whether you have a certificate. You may also be interested in jobs for a storekeeper and a loader.

Questions and answers

Can I hire a forklift operator without experience?

Sometimes, if they have a certificate and are ready to learn. But for a warehouse with high racking and night shifts, look for a candidate with practice.

How do I say that a certificate is needed?

Write it plainly: “forklift operator certificate required”. Then only those who have it will reply, and you won't have to filter the rest.

Should I mention night shifts separately?

Yes, it matters to the candidate. Night shifts are often paid higher, so state the allowance or rate.

Is it free for the employer?

Yes, the service is free for the customer. Service providers pay a small fee only when you choose them.
