Snow cannons and artificial snow: how to order at a good price

First work out the slope and the water

A snow cannon is not bought by eye. The area of the slope decides how much equipment you need, and the water and air supply decide whether it will work at all. Making snow needs pressurised water, plus compressed air (for cannons with a compressor) or a fan (for fan models). So before you write a request, collect the facts about the water and electricity you have.

Output also depends a lot on temperature and humidity. Artificial snow forms at low temperatures, and in a warm spell any cannon works worse. Keep this in mind when planning the season.

Types of cannons

Fan cannons usually produce more snow and suit commercial slopes. Lance (pole) cannons are lighter and cheaper and suit small areas or work as a supplement. For a private slope near a house a compact model is often enough, while a resort builds a system of several cannons, a pump station and pipelines.

What to put in your request

  • what you need — a snow cannon, a snowmaking system, or parts and consumables;
  • area to cover — the size of the slope or area, for example 100×30 m;
  • purpose — private slope, resort, event, children's sledging hill, filming;
  • output — the volume of snow per hour or the water consumption you need;
  • quantity of cannons or sets;
  • power supply — voltage, single or three-phase, generator, compressor, water pressure;
  • new or used and the warranty you want;
  • brand and model, if you have a preference;
  • budget and city or installation site.

Example: “I need a new snow cannon for a private slope of 100×30 m in a mountain area, output about 20 m³ per hour; there is a three-phase supply and a compressor. Delivery, warranty and instructions needed. Budget up to ₱300,000.”

How to compare offers

First check the real output at the temperatures you will be working in, not in the best conditions. Ask about the water consumption, pressure and power needed, and whether hoses, cables, mounts and a stand are included. Ask separately about commissioning and training: expensive equipment can sit idle without proper set-up.

For used equipment, ask for the running hours, the state of the fan and nozzles, and the service history. Find out whether service and spare parts are available nearby.

How BlaBlaPrice works

You describe the job once, and sellers and equipment suppliers reply in the chat with price, lead time and delivery terms. They can see where their offer stands and can improve it, so the price often comes out better. Contacts stay hidden until you choose. Details are on the “How it works” page.

For slope gear, look at skis and snowboards, and you can create a request right away.

Questions and answers

What does a snow cannon need to work?

Pressurised water, electric power and, if needed, compressed air. The exact requirements depend on the model, so ask the seller.

At what temperature does a cannon make snow?

Only at low temperatures, and the colder and drier the air, the better the result. The real limits depend on the model and humidity.

What output should I give in my request?

If you don't know, write the area of the slope, the purpose and the water you have. Sellers will work out which cannon you need or how many.

Can I order installation and start-up?

Yes, say so in your request. Sellers will write whether delivery, set-up and training are included in the price.
