Buff, bandana or headband: they are different things
A bandana is a square scarf you tie as you like: on the head, neck or face. A buff is a seamless tube you simply pull on, and it never comes undone. A headband is another format, better suited to sport. Choose by the job. For running and cycling, a light buff is handy. For fishing or trekking, one that shields the neck from the sun. For tactical use, a camouflage one.
Fabric for the season
Microfibre dries fast and wicks moisture well, so it is the pick for summer and sport. Cotton feels nice but takes longer to dry. Fleece or merino wool is for winter: a fleece-lined buff covers the neck and chin against the cold. Some models have UV protection, which helps in the heat under open sun. Check that the seams are flat and do not chafe, and that the buff can be washed without shrinking.
Prints and colours: camouflage (multicam, pixel), plain, patterned. If you need a specific shade, say so, because on screen it can look different.
