Bridesmaid dresses: matching or one colour palette, how to choose
Matching dresses or one palette
Bridesmaids can wear identical dresses, or different styles in one colour. Identical ones are easier to buy from one place, but they rarely suit everyone's figure. One colour with different styles (maxi, midi, one-shoulder) gives more freedom of choice, but the shade is harder to match.
Colour is the main trap. Sage, powder pink or dusty rose look different in photos and in real life, and the same shade looks different in different fabrics. So ask the seller for photos in daylight, or better still, a fabric swatch.
Fabric, sizes and timing
Chiffon is light and drapes well, but it creases. Satin shines and shows every fold. Crepe sits smoothly and holds its shape well. For an outdoor summer wedding people take chiffon; for the cooler months, something thicker.
Collect the sizes of each bridesmaid in advance. If the dresses are tailored, you only need measurements. If you buy ready-made ones, ask whether you can exchange a size and add another dress from the same batch: different batches can vary in shade.
What to put in your request
- number of dresses – for example, 4 identical ones;
- style – length, neckline, one-shoulder, wrap;
- colour – the name of the shade and, if possible, a photo example;
- sizes – for each bridesmaid separately;
- fabric – chiffon, satin, crepe;
- format – ready-made, tailored, rental;
- condition – new or second-hand;
- wedding date;
- budget – per dress or in total.
Example: “I need 4 bridesmaid dresses, midi with bare shoulders, sage chiffon, sizes S, M, M, L. New or tailored. Wedding on 16 August, city Davao City. Budget up to ₱3,800 per dress.”
How to compare offers
Compare the price per dress and for the whole set together, because with several pieces a seller may give better terms. Check whether the fabric comes from the same batch, whether there is a lining and whether the fabric is see-through. For tailoring, ask about timing: four dresses means four sets of measurements.
Ask whether you can return or exchange a dress if the size is wrong. For second-hand dresses, ask for photos on a person and for an honest account of the condition.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You describe what you need once, and sellers and tailors answer in the chat: what they offer, the price, timing, photos. BlaBlaPrice shows the offer that gives the best value first, and reviews of the seller are next to each one. Sellers see their place among the others and often improve their terms, especially when there are several dresses. Contacts are hidden until you choose a seller. For details see the “How it works” page, and you can create a request here.
For the bride there is a separate page on wedding dresses, and for the groom there are wedding suits. You will find more in the “Wedding” section.
