Order a chatbot or AI automation: how to get an exact price
A bot is not one thing but a dozen different tasks
“Make me a bot” can mean a simple Telegram bot with buttons, a bot that takes orders with payment, an AI assistant that answers customers from your price list, or a link between your CRM, spreadsheets and messenger on n8n or Make. Price and timelines differ many times over, so a developer needs to understand the task before giving an estimate.

What to put in your request
- What you need — a Telegram, WhatsApp or Instagram bot, an AI assistant on your website, process automation.

- Features — catalogue, orders, payment, booking, answers to common questions, admin panel.
- Integrations — CRM, Google Sheets, accounting software, payment systems, the OpenAI or Claude API.
- Data for the AI — what to train the answers on: website, documents, price list, FAQ; which languages.
- Hosting and support — whether they are included in the price.
- Deadline and budget, if you want to name one.

Hidden costs people forget to count
Building the bot is only the start. After that you need a server, and if there is AI, you also pay for use of the model's API, which depends on the number of conversations. Ask who pays for this and whose account everything is set up on. If it is the developer's account, changing provider later is a hassle.
Also ask whether you will get the source code and access, who fixes errors after delivery and for how long this is free.
How to compare offers
First make sure all providers understand the task in the same way. Compare by the list of features and integrations, not by the total sum. A good offer has stages, the timeline of each and what you will see after the first stage.
For an AI assistant, ask to see an example of similar work and to explain how it behaves when it doesn't know the answer: does it hand the conversation to a person or make something up. This is the most important point.
Providers can see where their offer stands and improve their terms, so the price and scope of work often come out better.
