Dance teacher: bachata, wedding dance and other styles
Choreographing a dance and learning a style are different tasks
A wedding dance is choreographed to a particular song over a few lessons. Bachata, salsa or hip-hop take longer to learn, because you need to build a base of moves. That is why it is hard to answer “I want to learn to dance” precisely. Say what you want to achieve.
If you are preparing for a wedding, start in good time: when there is little time left, lessons have to be held more often, so agree a schedule at once.
Who is dancing: you alone, a couple or a child
Partner styles such as ballroom, bachata or salsa can be learned with a partner or without. Some teachers work only with couples, others invite a partner to the lessons. A wedding dance is usually choreographed for two. For a child, teaching experience and a calm pace are important.
How to search through BlaBlaPrice
You write one request: the style, who is learning, the level, the format and the area. Before it is shown to teachers, it is checked and you are told what is missing. Then teachers and studios reply in chat: the price per lesson or package, the place, the schedule. They see where their offer stands and can improve their terms. Reviews show next to each. Your phone stays hidden until you choose a teacher. More on the “How it works” page.
What to put in your request
- Style — bachata, salsa, ballroom, hip-hop, contemporary, wedding dance.
- Goal — wedding, competition, hobby, performance.
- Who is learning — one person, a couple, a group, a child, and the age.
- Level — from scratch or with experience.
- Format — one-to-one or in a group, at a studio, at home or online.
- Number of lessons — for example, 5 lessons.
- Area and budget per lesson.
Example: “Manila. My fiancée and I want to choreograph a wedding dance to a slow song, both of us beginners. We need 5 one-to-one lessons at a studio before the end of November. Budget up to ₱760 per lesson.”
How to compare offers
- Ask how long a lesson lasts and whether payment is by the hour or per package.
- Find out whether hiring the hall is included if lessons are not at the teacher’s studio.
- For a wedding dance, ask for a plan: how many lessons your routine needs and whether there is a video for practice.
- Read the reviews and ask to see short videos of similar routines.
A typical mistake is expecting a quick result from one lesson. If you start out unsure, it is better to choose a simple dance and rehearse it than a complex routine you will not manage to learn.
