Home appliances: how to choose and buy at a good price

Find your type of appliance

This group covers what works in your home every day, and each kind has its own pitfalls. Here is where to start.

  • Washing machines and dryers: load in kilograms, size of the space, motor type, energy rating, and for dryers the drying type (condenser or heat pump).
  • Vacuum cleaners and robot vacuum cleaners: suction power, dust container type, cleaning area, robot navigation and battery capacity.
  • Water filters: what exactly must be removed (hardness, iron, chlorine), cartridge life, space for installation.
  • Irons, sewing machines and overlockers, knitting machines: power and the number of stitches or operations matter, and what exactly you sew or knit.
  • Spare parts for home appliances: for when a repair costs less than a new purchase.

If the appliance you need is not in the list, just describe it in your own words. It helps to say where it will stand and what you use now, so sellers understand what you really need. You don't have to pick a category: the site will find it.

New or used, and why not only the price

A new appliance comes with a warranty and a known history. A used one pays off when the model is expensive and you don't use it every day, for example a sewing machine or an overlocker. But check a used one: year of manufacture, the reason for selling, whether it ran on hard water, and whether there is a bill or serial number.

When you compare sellers, look at the whole package: the price, then separately delivery, carrying upstairs, installation, the warranty period and service in your city. A cheap appliance without service can end up costing more.

What to put in your request

  • Which appliance and what it is for: a family with kids, a small kitchen, a heavy ironing day.
  • Key specs: size, power, capacity, energy rating.
  • Brand or model, if you have chosen, and brands you don't want.
  • New or used, and what warranty you need.
  • City, delivery, floor and lift, installation or connection.
  • Budget, if you want to share it.

Example: “I need a robot vacuum cleaner for a 60 sq m flat with two cats, with wet mopping and room mapping. New, at least a one-year warranty. Cebu City, with delivery. Budget up to ₱19,000.”

How BlaBlaPrice works here

Instead of going from shop to shop, you write one request. It is checked, and you get hints about what is missing. Then sellers in this category and your region receive it and reply in the chat with what they offer, the price, terms and delivery.

BlaBlaPrice shows the best offer by value first, with seller reviews next to each. Sellers see where they rank and often improve their terms to win your request. Your phone is hidden, and the service is free for the buyer. Details are on the “How it works” page.

Mistakes that are easy to avoid

Buying “by brand” without checking the exact model: the same series name can hide a different specification. Not measuring the space beforehand. Not asking whether filters, bags or cartridges are available, since consumables can cost a lot. And remember that next to this group there are kitchen appliances and personal care.

Questions and answers

How do I know whether a repair is cheaper than a new appliance?

Compare the repair cost with the price of a new model. If you only need a cheap part, such as a pump or a hose, repair is often worth it. In a request for spare parts, give the model and the number on the rating plate.

Is it worth buying a used appliance?

For expensive things that you don't use often, it can pay off. Ask the seller about its age, condition and any warranty, and ask to see it working.

What is included in the price besides the appliance?

It depends on the seller: delivery, carrying upstairs, installation, warranty, accessories. So say in your request what you need, and compare offers on the same terms.

Does the buyer pay for BlaBlaPrice?

No, it is free for buyers. A seller pays a small fee only when you choose them.
