Inflatable PVC boats: how to choose and buy on a good offer

Length, floor and motor: the three main choices

An inflatable PVC boat is handy because it folds into a bag and fits in a car boot. But the choice is not as simple as it looks. The most common length is 2.4 to 4.5 m: short boats are easier to carry, long ones are more stable and carry more. The floor matters even more. A slatted floor (a removable floor) is cheap but less rigid. A plywood floor is stiffer and holds planing better. An inflatable low-pressure floor is lighter and more compact, but needs careful handling. A keel adds stability under way.

How it works through BlaBlaPrice

You write a request instead of comparing dozens of listings. It is checked, and you are told what is missing. Shops and private owners reply: model, length, floor type, price, kit, photos and delivery. Sellers see where their offer ranks and compete. Your phone number is hidden. Details are on the “How it works” page.

What to put in your request

  • Length — in metres, for example 3.2 m.
  • Floor type — slatted, plywood, inflatable low-pressure, with a keel.
  • For a motor or rowing — and the maximum motor power.
  • Capacity — number of people or load capacity in kilograms.
  • Make and model — if you have one in mind.
  • Condition — new or used, and for used the age and any patches.
  • Kit — oars, pump, seats, bag, wheels for transport.
  • Purpose — fishing, leisure, rafting.
  • City or delivery and a budget, if you want to state it.

Example: “I need a new inflatable PVC boat, 3.3 m, for a motor up to 10 hp, with a rigid plywood floor, for two or three anglers, with oars, pump and bag. Cebu City, courier delivery. Budget up to ₱27,000.”

How to judge offers

The density of the PVC fabric (in grams per square metre) and the number of air chambers affect durability and safety. Ask about the thickness of the material, how the seams are glued or welded, and about the valves. For a new boat, ask about the warranty. On a used one, check whether it has been repaired, look at scuffs on the bottom and near the transom, then inflate it and leave it for a day. Check the kit: a boat without a pump, oars or seats ends up dearer after you buy them.

If you plan to use a motor, check that there is a transom and what power the maker allows. A weak design does not like a powerful engine.

Common mistakes

Buying the cheapest boat without checking the material. Taking one too big for one or two anglers and then struggling to carry it. Forgetting the weight in the bag and the space in the boot. Forgetting a cover if you plan to stay long on the water, or life jackets. For rafting also look at catamarans, and if you already have a motor, at outboard motors. An overview of all the water options is in the “Boats and watercraft” section.

Questions and answers

Which floor type is best for an inflatable boat?

A slatted floor is convenient and cheap, a plywood floor is stiffer and better for a motor, and a low-pressure inflatable floor is lighter and more compact. The choice depends on how and where you boat.

What boat length should I choose for fishing?

For two people on a lake 2.7–3.3 m is often enough. For a motor and more load, choose a longer boat.

How do I check a used inflatable boat?

Inflate it and leave it for a day, then inspect the seams, valves and bottom. Ask for photos of any repairs.

Does the buyer pay for BlaBlaPrice?

No, the service is free for buyers. Sellers pay a small fee only when you choose them.
