Wedding gifts: what to give newlyweds and anniversary couples
Cash, a thing or an experience
Most people pick one of three: cash in a nice envelope, something useful for the home, or an experience such as a travel voucher or a dinner for two. Choose a thing when you know the couple's interests. If they love travelling, think of a suitcase, a travel kit or a scratch-off world map. For a cosy home, glasses, a throw, bed linen or a coffee set all work.
Wedding anniversaries, such as silver or golden, are different. The gift is more formal and more about the family: a photo book, a frame or a personalised keepsake.
What to put in your request
- gift idea — a set of glasses, a throw, a voucher, jewellery, an appliance;
- occasion — wedding, engagement, anniversary (silver, golden);
- for whom — friends, relatives, parents, an anniversary couple;
- the couple's interests — travel, cooking, sport, board games;
- personalisation — names and date engraved;
- wedding date — when the gift must be ready;
- delivery city — to you, or straight to the couple's address;
- budget.
Example: “I'm looking for a gift for friends who love travelling. For example, a set of glasses engraved with their names and the date, 27 November. Cebu City, delivery by 25 November, budget up to ₱4,400.”
How to find it on BlaBlaPrice
You describe the couple and your budget in one request. Gift sellers and craftspeople reply with what they can offer, the price, and how fast they can engrave and deliver. Often the replies include ideas you hadn't thought of. Sellers can see where they stand among the others, so they compete on terms, while your phone number stays hidden. Read more on the “How it works” page.
How to compare offers
- For glasses and tableware, ask about the material (glass, crystal), how many pieces are in the set and how it is packed for transport.
- For engraving, agree the text, font and timing, and check the names and date twice.
- For textiles and home items, confirm the size and fabric.
- Ask about gift wrapping and a card. It saves time on the wedding day.
Common mistakes
One is buying a duplicate of something the couple will get anyway, such as yet another set of glasses. If the couple has a wish list, follow it. Another is ordering a personalised gift only a few days before the wedding: engraving and delivery need a buffer.
