A Lexus bumper: where it is easy to go wrong
The front bumper of an RX350 or another Lexus has many “options”: holes for headlight washers, parking sensors, cameras, radar mountings. Two bumpers for one model can look the same but have different cut-outs. The seller needs to know what is fitted on your car. So either describe the trim or send photos of your bumper from all sides.
Another trap is the generation. The RX350 AL10 and the following generations have completely different shapes, and a facelift changes the grilles and lamps.
Colour and pearl
Lexus likes complex colours, including pearl white. If the paint is three-layer, the shade on a new bumper is hard to match. Just saying “white” is not enough: ask for a photo of the part in daylight and give the paint code from the plate on the body. If you are looking for a part without repainting, you cannot do without the exact colour.
What to put in your request
- Model — for example, Lexus RX350;
- Part — front bumper, and with what: grilles, washers, parking sensors;
- Year and body, for example 2010, AL10;
- Engine — sometimes the trim depends on it;
- Side — for paired parts;
- Colour — or the paint code;
- Condition — no dents, cracks or repairs;
- VIN;
- Delivery city and budget.
Example: “Lexus RX350, 2010, body AL10, 3.5 V6. I need a front bumper complete with the reinforcement, pearl white, with no cracks or signs of repair. It has holes for headlight washers. I will send the VIN. Courier delivery to Ang Mo Kio. Budget up to $460.”
How to compare offers for a body part
Ask for at least three photos: from the front, from the side and from the inside. Look at the mountings: small cracks around the lugs spoil a bumper most. Find out whether the price includes the reinforcement, brackets and trim pieces. Also agree how the part will be packed: a bulky bumper is shipped in a separate box, and that affects the delivery cost.
Parking sensors, washers and trim are often removed from the bumper separately. If you need them, say so directly in the request, or you will get a bare bumper and have to buy the rest.
