How to find a nurse: for a clinic, on-call visits or a patient at home
Hospital or home: different requirements
A nurse in a hospital carries out the doctors' orders as part of a team, while a visiting nurse often works alone. She needs independence, neatness and the ability to talk to the patient and the family. So say first where the person will work: in a clinic, in a private practice or on home visits.
Also be clear about the scope of work: drips, injections, dressings, care of a bedridden patient. These are different skills, and each carries its own level of responsibility.
For home visits, give the address and timing, and mention whether there is a lift, whether there are pets, and whether more than one person needs care. For a clinic, name the department and the equipment the nurse will work with. This saves time on both sides and cuts down on irrelevant replies.
Think about shifts separately: night duty and weekends are often paid differently, so say so upfront.
What to put in your request
- Duties — drips, injections, dressings, patient care, post-surgery procedures;
- Pay — per visit, per hour, per shift or a fixed monthly salary;
- Place of work — city, area, or home visits;
- Schedule — 24-hour duty, day shifts, one-off visits;
- Type of setting — clinic, hospital, the patient's home;
- Employment — regular job or one-off work;
- Experience — how many years, in which departments;
- Qualifications — nursing diploma, registration, certificates.
Example: “Singapore. Need a nurse for home visits: drips and injections as prescribed by the doctor. Pay $9.13 per visit, flexible timings, one-off work. Nursing qualification, 2+ years of experience.”
How to search on BlaBlaPrice
Create a request on the home page in your own words. The site checks the text, removes contact details and suggests what is missing. Nurses from your area reply in the chat, describing their experience, schedule and expectations. Only the nurse you choose sees your contacts. More on the How it works page.
What to check before hiring
Ask for the diploma, registration or qualification papers and references. For home visits, ask whether she has her own equipment, how she handles sterile materials and what she does if the patient's condition worsens.
All medical orders must come from a doctor, and the nurse carries them out. If you need care for a seriously ill person, discuss with the doctor which actions are allowed. Agree on responsibility and the payment process in advance.
