Pet supplies: how to buy them at a better price

Why prices of pet supplies differ so much

The same bag of food can cost different amounts in different shops, and on top of that come offers, pack sizes, expiry dates and delivery. If you buy regularly, the difference adds up over a year. So it is important to compare not “bag with bag” but the price per kilogram and what is included in the order.

Also think about regularity: food and litter run out at the worst moment, so a request for several packs in advance saves both time and nerves. For accessories (carrier, bed, harness) the main thing is the right size, so measure your pet before ordering.

For food, what matters is the class (economy, premium, super-premium, holistic), the ingredients and how well it suits the animal. For litter, the type (clumping, silica gel, wood); for accessories, size and material.

How not to go wrong with food

  • Age and size: a kitten, an adult cat and an older animal have different needs, and large dog breeds need separate formulas.
  • Food for neutered pets, sensitive digestion, hypoallergenic and grain-free lines are separate products, not just marketing.
  • Dry food is cheaper per kilogram, wet food is tastier and adds moisture, so they are often combined.
  • Veterinary diets are prescribed by a doctor and should not be chosen on your own.
  • Buy a big bag only when the animal is already used to the food, because a sudden change can upset its stomach.

What to put in your request

  • type of product — food, litter, collar, carrier, bed, scratching post, toys;
  • for whom — species, breed or size, age;
  • dry or wet, if it is food;
  • brand or class, for example Royal Canin or super-premium;
  • pack size — 10 kg bag, pouch pack;
  • special needs — neutered, hypoallergenic, grain-free;
  • quantity, delivery and budget.

Example: “I need Royal Canin Sterilised dry food for an adult neutered cat, 10 kg bag, 2 packs. Courier delivery to Singapore. Budget up to $130.”

How to compare offers

Count the price per kilogram or per pouch and add delivery. Check the exact line name and weight, because similar packs of one brand have different compositions. Ask about the expiry date: with a big bag it matters that your pet can finish it in time. Offers at the same price can differ in delivery terms and returns if the animal refuses to eat.

How BlaBlaPrice works here

Instead of going from shop to shop, you describe your list once on BlaBlaPrice. Pet supply sellers reply in the chat: what is in stock, at what price and how they will deliver. The platform shows the best-value offer first, and sellers compete with each other. Your phone number stays hidden until you choose a seller. Read more on the How it works page.

Questions and answers

How do I choose food for a cat or dog?

Go by the animal's age, size, health and the class of the food. If there are health problems, talk to a vet first.

Is it worth buying a big bag?

Usually the price per kilogram is lower, but watch the expiry date and storage. First make sure the animal eats this food.

Can I order several different items in one request?

Yes, you can write a list: food, litter, a bed. Sellers will reply with what they can supply and on what terms.
