Rackets and gear for tennis and badminton: how to buy well
Start with the game and the level
A racket for lawn tennis, badminton and table tennis are three different worlds. In tennis, weight, head size and string tension matter. In badminton, it is lightness and balance. In table tennis, players often put the blade and the rubbers together separately, but ready-made bats exist for a start. Your level matters more than the brand: a beginner often does well with a lighter racket with a bigger head, while an experienced player chooses to suit their own style. For children, buy proper junior rackets, which are shorter, rather than an adult one to “grow into”: it is heavy and teaches bad technique.
Tennis racket specs
Weight (for example, 300 g) decides stability and the load on your arm. Head size affects the “sweet spot”: a bigger head forgives mistakes, a smaller one gives control. Pick the grip size separately, for example L2, because a grip that is too thick or too thin can lead to tennis elbow. Strings change the feel too: new strings may cost extra, and a used racket often needs restringing.
Tables and balls
A table tennis table can be for indoors or outdoors. An outdoor one has a weatherproof top and is heavier. Measure the space before you buy: the table needs a free zone around it. Delivery of a table depends on your city, its size and weight, so give your address in the request. Balls differ in quality and in stars, and simple ones are enough for practice.
What to put in your request
- what exactly — tennis racket, badminton racket, table tennis bat and blade, table, balls, strings;
- model, for example Babolat Pure Drive;
- player’s level — beginner, child, club player;
- specs — weight, head size, grip size, outdoor or indoor;
- condition — new or used;
- quantity, budget, city.
Example: “I need a tennis racket, Babolat Pure Drive, 300 g, grip L2, for an intermediate club player. A used one with new strings is fine. Singapore, budget up to $150.”
How to compare offers on BlaBlaPrice
You write one request, and sellers reply in the chat with a price, condition and delivery. The platform shows the offer that is best on the merits first, and you can see reviews next to each seller. Sellers can see where they stand among the others and may improve their terms. Your phone number stays hidden.
Compare models by year of release: different generations of the same brand can feel very different. For a used racket, ask for photos of the frame and the grip, check for cracks, and ask when the strings were last changed. For a table, check whether the net, legs and a warranty on the top are included. To get fit before the season, look at athletics and fitness. All the details of the service are on the “How it works” page.
