Women's Trousers: How to Choose the Cut, Rise and Fabric
Buy trousers by height, not just by size
Length is the most common reason trousers get returned. The same size M can be too short for someone 175 cm tall and too long for someone 160 cm. So along with your waist and hip measurements, always give your height and, if you know it, the inseam length.
The second question is the rise. High, mid and low rise look completely different, even in the same size.
What to put in your request
- Cut — straight, palazzo, wide-leg, cargo, flared, tapered, leggings.
- Rise — high, mid, low.
- Size and height — letter size or waist in inches, plus hip measurement and inseam.
- Fabric — formal suiting, wool, linen, cotton, viscose, knit. For suiting, ask about the composition and whether it has elastane.
- Season — summer, light all-year, winter, fleece-lined or padded.
- Colour — black, beige, charcoal.
- Brand — for example Zara.
- Condition — new or second-hand.
- Budget and city.
Example: “I need new palazzo trousers, high rise, size M, height 170 cm, linen or viscose, black, for summer. Woodlands, courier delivery with a trial at the door. Budget up to $31.”
How to find them on BlaBlaPrice
Instead of searching dozens of shops, you write one request. It is checked for ads and contact details, and you get hints on which details to add. Then clothing sellers reply in the chat: what they have in the cut and size you need, the price, how they will ship and whether you can return it. BlaBlaPrice compares the replies and shows the best one first, with the seller's reviews right next to it.
Sellers can see where they stand among the others, which pushes them to improve their terms. Your phone number stays hidden until you choose a seller. It is all explained on the “How it works” page.
How to compare offers
- Fabric composition: the more wool or linen, the higher the price, but also the more comfortable in the right season. A lot of viscose can crease and shrink after washing.
- Lining in winter and woollen trousers, and whether the fabric itches.
- Length: is there extra for hemming, and is hemming included in the price?
- Return terms. This matters a lot for trousers, because you only see the fit when you try them on.
- Pockets and waistband: are the pockets real, are there belt loops, elastic at the back or a side zip?
Common mistakes
Buying “blind” by letter size without thinking about how stretchy the fabric is. Not giving your height. Buying winter trousers without checking the insulation: a thin fleece lining keeps you less warm than it looks in the photo.
