High-visibility vests: for roads, security and vehicles

Not every vest is equally visible

A bright yellow vest in a car boot and a vest for roadworks are not the same thing. Standards divide high-visibility clothing into three visibility classes, depending on the area of fluorescent material and reflective strips. The higher the class, the more material and the better you are seen on the road.

Roughly: for a car or a bicycle a basic vest is enough, for security, a warehouse and a building site people usually take class 2, and for roadworks with traffic close by you need a higher one. If your client's or safety officer's requirements are written down, take the class from there.

Material, colour and printing

Mesh breathes well in summer, while solid polyester is denser and holds its shape better. Pockets and a zip are handy for staff, and a Velcro closure goes on quickly. The main colours are fluorescent yellow, lime and orange. Orange shows better against a green background, yellow against grey tarmac.

A text on the back (“SECURITY”, a company name) is applied by printing or heat-transfer film. Allow separate time for the printing and check that the text does not cover the reflective strips.

Look at the small things too: whether there are reflective strips on the shoulders and all the way round the body, whether the Velcro seams hold, and whether the dye runs in the wash. A faded vest is seen less well.

What to put in your request

  • Type — road, construction, security, for a car or bicycle;
  • Visibility class — 1, 2 or 3, or the width of the reflective strip;
  • Colour — orange, yellow, lime;
  • Size — S/M/L or free size with Velcro;
  • Material — mesh or solid fabric, with or without pockets;
  • Quantity — in bulk the price per piece is lower;
  • Printing — text or logo and its place on the vest;
  • Budget — per piece.

Example: “I need 100 orange class 2 high-visibility vests in mesh, with Velcro, with SECURITY printed on the back. Delivery to Cebu City, budget up to ₱110 per piece.”

How to compare offers

Check the class and whether the standard marking is on the label. Check how much the printing costs and whether there is a minimum run. Ask about timing: ready vests ship at once, but with printing it takes time.

On BlaBlaPrice you describe what you need once, and sellers send offers with prices and terms. They compete for your request and can see where they stand, and the best-value offer is shown first. Seller reviews are beside each offer. See how it works on the “How it works” page.

Questions and answers

What visibility class does a vest need?

For a car or bicycle a basic one is enough. For security, a warehouse and construction people usually take class 2, and for work near traffic a higher one. Go by your safety requirements.

Can text be printed on the vest?

Yes, give the text or logo and its place. Sellers will tell you whether there is a minimum lot, what the printing costs and how long it takes.

Which vest size should I take?

For staff, take a free size with Velcro or a size with room to spare, so the vest goes on over a jacket.

Can sellers see my phone number?

No, contacts are hidden and are opened only to the seller you choose.
