Pianos & grand pianos

Pianos and grand pianos in the United States

A grand or baby grand piano in the United States costs roughly $4,700 to $13,000 new or used from a dealer, and $45,000 or more for concert and salon models. These ranges are approximate, according to sellers' websites, November 2026. To see current offers for your model and budget, create a request on BlaBlaPrice.

Warranty and used pianos

Most dealer warranties on new acoustic pianos run five years, and some dealers offer ten. Several builders, including Yamaha, Baldwin and Bosendorfer, give ten-year parts and labor warranties, and Kawai's ten-year coverage transfers to a later owner. Digital pianos are often covered for one year. For a used piano, ask for the condition report and any warranty in writing before you agree on a price.

Season and when to buy

Winter runs from December to February and summer from June to August, so a November request leaves time for delivery and tuning before the coldest months. Pianos are sold all year, so having the right model in stock near your city matters more than the calendar. Ask whether a tuning visit is included after the move.

Delivery, stairs and setup

Grand pianos are measured in feet and inches, so a 5-foot baby grand and a 6-foot grand need different rooms and doorways. Write the length in your request. Ask whether delivery to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston or Phoenix includes an elevator or stairs, because access changes the quote. Concert grands are usually regulated to a different hammer blow distance, 47 mm rather than 45 mm, so ask whether the seller sets up the action after delivery.

What to write in your request

Name the instrument type, the model if you have one, and whether you want new, used, digital or acoustic. Give the keyboard condition, your budget in dollars, your city, and whether you need setup or delivery. Mention whether the address has an elevator. The more details you give, the closer the first offers will be to your real cost.
