Clothing and accessories hire for a party, festival or photo shoot
When hiring beats buying
An evening gown for a farewell party, a man's suit for a formal function, a look for a theme party or a photo shoot: you wear these once or twice. Hiring lets you look great without a big spend and without extra clothes cluttering your wardrobe.
The main risk is size and fit. So write your height and size in the request right away and, if possible, agree on a trial before you hire.
What to put in your request
- what to hire — a dress, a suit, a full look, accessories, for example “floor-length evening gown”;
- size and height — size 38, height 5 ft 6 in;
- hire dates — when to collect and when to return;
- city — where you can try it on, pick-up or delivery;
- colour — for example, emerald green;
- style — open back, mermaid cut, A-line, with sleeves;
- occasion — farewell party, wedding, photo shoot, theme party;
- trial and alterations, deposit, budget.
Example: “I am looking for a floor-length emerald green evening gown, size 38, height 5 ft 6 in, open back. Needed for 20–22 June, Singapore. I want a trial first, no deposit. Budget up to $45.”
How to judge offers
The lowest rate is not always the best deal. Ask how many days the rental lasts, whether the day before and after the event is counted, and what happens if you return late. Ask about cleaning too: some shops include it, others charge separately.
For a man's suit, height and size are not enough: chest, waist and sleeve length matter. For accessories — bags, jewellery, scarves, hats — agree whether you can take them together with the outfit. They match better, and a set usually costs less than separate items.
Ask for a photo of the exact item, not a similar one. Ask about the condition of the fabric, fittings and lining. If alterations are needed, find out whether they are free and whether they will damage the garment.
Common mistakes
- Booking from photos alone, without a trial: the size on the label can differ.
- Forgetting footwear and heel height, which decide the length of the dress.
- Not agreeing on what counts as damage before paying the deposit.
- Looking for an outfit a few days before the event, when the choice is smallest.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write one request, and hire shops in your city reply in the chat: photos, price, terms, trial. Your request is checked and the site suggests what is missing. Offers compete with each other, so terms are often better. Only the one you choose sees your contacts. More details: “How it works”.
There is a separate section for children: kids' clothing and gear hire.
