Gynaecologist: how to book an appointment and compare clinic prices
Decide why you are going
What an appointment includes depends on the purpose of the visit. A routine check-up, planning a pregnancy, contraception, pregnancy care and a consultation for specific complaints are different sets of services. If you have worrying symptoms, do not delay the visit and do not wait for the best offer: in urgent cases, see a doctor straight away.
What an appointment may include
- Consultation and examination — the basic part of the visit.
- Ultrasound — sometimes included in the consultation, sometimes charged separately.
- Swabs and tests — cytology, microflora, infections; the cost depends on the list.
- Colposcopy — a separate procedure.
- Intrauterine device (IUD) insertion — needs a consultation and, as a rule, separate payment for the device itself.
So you can compare prices for a “gynaecologist appointment” only when it is clear what each includes.
Private clinic, government hospital or online
Private clinics offer more choice of time and usually quicker booking; government hospitals have different payment terms and a different approach. An online consultation works for discussing test results or planning, but an examination and ultrasound need an in-person visit. Also ask whether the doctor has the relevant qualifications and specialisation, such as endocrine gynaecology or pregnancy care.
Take your earlier ultrasound reports, test results and a list of the medicines you take. Before a visit with a swab and ultrasound, doctors often advise avoiding intercourse and douching for a day or two, but the clinic will give exact advice when you book.
How to compare offers
Check the services point by point: what the consultation includes, whether there is an ultrasound, how long the appointment lasts, whether any tests are needed beforehand. Look at reviews of the doctor, not just the clinic.
On BlaBlaPrice you do not need to call clinics: you describe your request without unnecessary intimate details, and clinics and doctors in your city reply in chat with a price, a free date and a format. They see where they stand among the others and compete on terms, and reviews are visible next to the offers. Your phone number stays hidden until you choose. More on the “How it works” page.
