How to find a bus driver: licence, route, schedule
Passenger transport asks more of a candidate
A bus driver is responsible for people, so the requirements are stricter than for a truck driver: a valid licence for buses, proven experience on large vehicles, a calm temperament and patience in rush hour. If the job post doesn't say this, random people will reply and real professionals will walk past.
Decide on the format at once: a city route, suburban runs, charter trips or staff transport for a company. The schedule depends on it, and so does whether overnight trips are needed.
What to put in the job post
- Licence — the bus category, plus any extra permits if needed;
- Type of route — city, suburban, intercity, charter;
- Bus — make and class: minibus or full-size, new or older, automatic or manual;
- Schedule — 2 days on and 2 off, 5 days a week, morning and evening shifts;
- Pay system — fixed salary, share of takings, bonuses;
- Experience on buses — how many years of real work;
- Paperwork — formal employment, written contract;
- City and where the bus is parked.
Example: “Pune, city route. Driver needed for a company Mercedes Sprinter, bus licence, 3+ years of experience. 2 days on and 2 off, fixed salary of ₹28,000 a month, formal employment. Calm, no accidents in recent years.”
If you offer a city route, mention the intervals between buses, whether there are ticket machines or a cash counter, and whether the driver must keep to the timetable himself. For suburban runs, say whether trips of several days are possible.
How to use BlaBlaPrice
Create a request on the home page in your own words. The site checks the text for ads and contacts and tells you what is missing. Drivers in your region reply in chat: they tell you about their experience, say when they can start and state their pay expectations. You choose the best one, and only that person gets your contacts. What to check before a trial shift
Ask which routes he has worked and what he does in tricky situations: a passenger without a ticket, a breakdown, a traffic jam. Ask whether he has worked in the same city: knowing the streets and stops saves months of settling in.
Agree in advance on a medical check before the shift, responsibility for damage and how the bus is handed over between shifts. This depends on the company, so it is best to put everything in the contract.
If you are a driver looking for work
Register as a service provider, pick the category and city, and job posts will reach you. In your reply, write about your experience on buses and the routes you have driven. For experienced drivers there are also general driver jobs and long-haul routes.
