Parts for cars, bikes and machinery: how to find the right part
Search for a part by VIN, not by name
The main rule of this section: every part must fit a specific vehicle. So in your request always give the make, model, year, engine size and type, or better still the VIN. It removes doubt about the trim and version, since even engines of the same size can differ.
If you know the part number (OEM or the maker's code), give that too. Then sellers can offer both the original and good-quality alternatives.
Where to go in this section
- For cars. Car parts — engine, running gear, brakes, body. Car breakers — used parts from cars being dismantled, usually cheaper.
- Wheels and fluids. Tyres, rims and wheels (size, speed rating, season) and oils and car chemicals (viscosity, maker approvals).
- Interior and media. Car accessories and car audio and multimedia.
- Motorcycles. Motorcycle parts, riding gear (protection, size, a helmet with the ISI mark) and motorcycle accessories.
- Commercial vehicles. Parts for trucks, buses and farm machinery, where the model, year and number of axles or type of load matter.
Separately there are GPS navigators and dashcams, which are also easy to find with a request.
How it works through BlaBlaPrice
Instead of calling shops and breakers, you write a request: the part, the car (VIN if you have it), the condition (new, reconditioned, used) and the city. You can add one photo, for example of the broken part or its nameplate. The request is checked, contacts are removed, and you get hints on what is missing.
Parts sellers reply in the chat: what exactly, original or alternative, the price, availability, warranty and delivery. BlaBlaPrice shows the best-fitting offer first, with reviews next to it. Sellers see their place among the others, so they compete on terms. Your phone is hidden. More on the “How it works” page.
Original, alternative or used
An original costs more, but usually fits exactly. Good alternatives often fall little short in life, while cheap ones can fail quickly. A used part from a breaker suits body parts, electronics and rare models, but its condition needs checking. For brakes, steering and running gear, do not save on safety.
Ask about the return period if the part does not fit, and who pays for the second delivery. This is often the deciding point.
Common mistakes
Ordering from a description like “for a Volkswagen” without the year and engine. Not matching the part number with the original. Buying tyres and rims without checking the size, offset and fixing. Ignoring the manufacturing date of tyres and oils. For complex units like the transmission or engine, consult a specialist.
Season, timing and delivery
Tyres and rims depend on the season, batteries and coolant on the hot summer and the cold in the north, and parts for machinery on the field work. Plan your purchase in advance, so you do not hunt for a part in the busiest weeks. For farm machinery and trucks, an order from another city can take a few days, so say when you need the part.
If the part is urgent, write that in the request and say whether you can collect it yourself from the breaker or warehouse.
Think about delivery separately: bulky parts like bumpers or doors are sent by a separate carrier, and the delivery cost depends on size, not on the price of the part. Agree this with the seller at once, or the total may surprise you.
