Hobbies, leisure and sport: how to buy what you need at a good price
First decide what exactly you are looking for
This section brings together everything people do in their free time: from guitars and bicycles to drones, old books, concert tickets and embroidery kits. The goods are very different, so the advice differs too. The most important rule is the same everywhere: the more precisely you describe the item, the easier it is to compare offers.
Below is a short guide to the subcategories and what to state in each.
The subcategories and what to specify in them
- Cycling — bicycles, e-bikes, protection and spare parts. State your height, the type (mountain, road, city), frame and wheel size, and for an e-bike also the battery capacity and motor power.
- Musical instruments — from guitars and keyboards to harmoniums and DJ equipment. Write the model, the level (beginner or stage), the condition and whether you need a case.
- Sports and leisure — skis, skates, gym equipment, trekking and fishing gear. The main things here are size, height, weight and season.
- Quadcopters and FPV drones — the camera, flight time, range and battery set matter.
- Antiques and collectibles — coins, paintings, old furniture. Describe the period, condition, origin and whether an expert check is needed.
- Books, records, tickets, textbooks, and also crafts and hobby supplies — here the edition, format, event date or number of items in a set matter.
How it works through BlaBlaPrice
Instead of scrolling through listings and writing to ten strangers, you create one request in your own words. You do not need to pick a category: the site works it out itself. Before sellers see your request, it is checked, and you are told which details they are missing.
Then sellers in the right category reply: what exactly they offer, the price, terms, delivery, sometimes photos. They can see where their offer stands, so they compete for your choice, and the price often turns out better. Your contacts stay hidden until you decide to share them. Details are on the “How it works” page.
What to put in your request
- What exactly — the item, model or the type you want.
- Condition — new, second-hand or collectible, and how much wear is acceptable.
- Specifications — size, height, capacity, power, edition, depending on the item.
- What is included — case, chargers, spare parts, documents.
- City and delivery — where you want to inspect it or how you want to receive it by courier.
- Budget — if you want to state it.
Example: “Looking for a second-hand mountain bike with 29-inch wheels, frame M, for a height of 178 cm, hydraulic brakes, no cracks on the frame. Bengaluru, I can inspect it in person. Budget up to ₹35,000.”
How to compare offers
For used items, ask about age, the reason for selling and the history of use, and ask for extra photos. For new ones, look at the warranty and whether there is a bill. For collectibles and antiques, the most important things are origin and whether the item can be shown to an expert. Do not compare only the price: two similar offers can differ in what is included and in delivery.
Common mistakes
Buying gear by eye, without size or weight. Not checking whether the right documents exist for equipment and expensive items. Ignoring the season: skis and skates are usually sought more in autumn, so it is worth asking in advance. And forgetting the extra costs: covers, batteries, accessories.
