How to hire a facade worker: insulation, plaster, cladding
Facade work comes in many kinds
The most common system is wall insulation topped with decorative plaster (the “wet facade”): polystyrene or mineral wool boards are fixed with adhesive and anchors, reinforced with mesh, primed and given a finishing coat. Ventilated facades, cladding, panel fixing and painting are separate jobs. A facade plasterer and a rope-access painter working on a tall wall are different people, so say which work you need and how many storeys the building has.
What to include in the vacancy
- Type of work — insulation, decorative plaster, cladding, painting.
- Pay — per square metre, per day or per site, for example ₹120 per sq ft.
- Work location — city and area, for example Jaipur.
- Schedule — for example, six days a week, 8 am to 6 pm.
- Type of employment — for a season, one site, permanent.
- One person or a crew — how many people.
- Experience — in years and with which insulation system.
- Accommodation — whether you provide a place to stay or meals.
Example request
“A crew of facade workers is needed in Jaipur to insulate a private house: polystyrene boards, mesh reinforcement, decorative plaster. About 2,500 sq ft of facade, to be finished before the monsoon. Pay ₹120 per sq ft, six days a week, 8 am to 6 pm. At least 3 years' experience, we provide the scaffolding.”
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write your request once. It is checked: no ads or contact details, and you get hints on which details to add. Facade workers in your area reply in the chat: who is in the crew, what experience they have, their rate and start date. BlaBlaPrice shows the strongest replies first, and candidates' reviews are visible next to each. Your phone number stays hidden, and you pay nothing for the search. More on the page “How it works”.
Season and conditions
Before you start, check how straight the walls are: big irregularities may need extra levelling, and that changes both the materials and the time.
Wet facade work depends on temperature: the adhesive and plaster need a certain air temperature range and don't like rain or direct harsh sun. So the working season is the dry months, and crews book in advance. Agree who puts up the scaffolding, covers the facade with netting and is responsible for safety at height.
Ask about the insulation system: thickness, make of material, number of anchors per square metre. A good craftsman won't skip the corners, window reveals and plinth. For interior finishing you will need a plasterer and a painter, and for help on the ground a general labourer.
