Hourly hire of a hall or studio for an event, a shoot or classes
First decide what the space is for
The choice depends on the purpose. For a photo shoot, people look for a studio with a cyclorama, natural light or several backdrops. For dance and yoga you need mirrors, a smooth floor and fresh air. For seminars and trainings, a projector, chairs, tables and enough sockets. For rehearsals and recording, soundproofing and equipment. A banquet hall or a loft is chosen for a birthday or a corporate event, and there the kitchen, crockery and rules about food and drinks matter.
What to put in your request
- type of hall or studio — banquet hall, photo studio with a cyclorama, dance hall, meeting room, loft;
- what for — birthday, training, shoot, seminar, rehearsal;
- number of people — including guests or participants;
- date and length — the day and the number of hours, counting set-up and clearing up;
- one-off or regular — for example, twice a week in the evening;
- equipment — lights, mirrors, mats, projector, sound, kitchen, furniture;
- food and drinks — whether you may bring your own or need catering;
- area — the city and the part of it;
- price per hour — if you want to name a sum.
Example: “I need a hall for a birthday in Bengaluru, Indiranagar, on 14 October for 4 hours, 30 people. With lights, sound and a projector, and I may bring my own food. Budget up to ₹1,500 an hour.”
What to watch when booking
Ask the owner to list what is included in the hour. Often the set-up and clearing-up time is counted separately or eats into the paid time. Ask about the minimum number of hours, since many studios rent for no less than two. Check the rules: whether loud music is allowed, until what time, and whether there are limits on alcohol, confetti and decor.
Find out about the deposit or advance and about the terms for cancelling or moving the booking. Ask separately about power backup and lighting during outages, especially for evening events. A typical mistake is to agree on the number of guests “roughly” and then find that the hall holds fewer people with tables and a dance floor than in a standing format.
How it works through BlaBlaPrice
Instead of calling halls and studios, you describe the event once. Owners reply in the chat: what the space is, the price per hour or for the whole time, the terms, photos. BlaBlaPrice shows the offer that is best on the merits first, and owners see where they stand among the others and can improve their terms. Your phone number stays hidden until you choose an offer yourself. More: how it works.
For steady work over months, it is better to look at coworking spaces, and for your own business at commercial property to rent.
