Tractor implements: ploughs, harrows, mowers and rotavators
First, compatibility with your tractor
Implements and attachments are ploughs, harrows, cultivators, mowers, rotavators, loader buckets, blades, trailers and spreaders. All of them work only with a tractor of the right power and with the right hitching. So in your request be sure to give the tractor make and hp, for example a 50 hp Mahindra, and the way it is hitched.
Linkage category and PTO
Most implements attach through a three-point linkage. It has categories (1, 2, 3), and the pin diameter depends on them. If the category does not match, you need adapter bushes. A rotavator, mower or spreader also needs a power take-off shaft (PTO) with the right speed. It is better to give all of this in advance so that sellers offer only compatible items.
What to put in your request
- type of implement — disc harrow, plough, cultivator, mower;
- which tractor — make, model, power;
- working width — for example, 8 ft (2.4 m);
- model or maker, if you have a preference;
- condition — new or used;
- year;
- buy or rent;
- delivery — your district and the transport, or collection;
- budget, if you want to name one.
Example: “I need a used mounted disc harrow for a 50 hp tractor, working width 8 ft (2.4 m), not older than 2015, in working order with no cracks in the frame. A known brand. Delivery to Karnal district, budget up to ₹1.2 lakh.”
What to check and how to compare
- The working width must match the pull of the tractor. An implement that is too wide will stall the engine.
- The thickness of the metal and the state of the working parts: discs, ploughshares, tines. Replacing them can be a noticeable share of the cost.
- For used: play in the disc bearings, cracks in the frame, weld marks, the state of the hydraulic cylinders.
- Completeness: top and lower links, brackets, the PTO shaft, spare parts.
- The maker: spare parts for implements of well-known brands are easier to find, while no-name models can be cheaper, but ask separately about their life and spares.
Compare similar implements with the same width and set. If one offer is clearly cheaper, see what it leaves out. It is better to choose an implement in advance, not a week before the field work.
Common mistakes
People often buy an implement “for the price” without matching the linkage category and the pin diameter. Then they have to look for adapters or rework the mounting. Another mistake is not checking the weight of the unit: the front of a light tractor can lift under a bucket or a heavy plough. Ask about the weight and, if needed, about a counterweight.
How the search works here
You write one request, and sellers reply in chat with photos, the price and terms. The system compares the offers and shows the best-value one first, and sellers see their place and can improve their terms. Your contacts are hidden.
For working the soil itself there is tillage equipment, for sowing, seeding equipment, and for crop protection, sprayers and fertiliser spreaders.
