New cars: how to get good offers from dealers
One model, different prices
When you look for a new car, the main problem is that two offers that look the same can differ in trim, option packs, insurance and “mandatory” add-ons. Official dealers, showrooms and middlemen often count differently, and a proper comparison takes weeks of phone calls.
On BlaBlaPrice you describe the car once, and sellers write to you in chat themselves: what they offer, the price, whether the car is in stock and the delivery time. They see where their offer stands, so they compete on terms. Your phone stays hidden until you choose a seller yourself.
What to decide before the request
A new car is bought for a long time, so think through five things. Engine and transmission: petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric, manual or automatic. Trim: the gap between the base and the top version is often bigger than it seems, because the top one has cameras, leather, adaptive cruise control. Drive and ground clearance, if you do not drive only in the city. Colour: a non-standard one, such as metallic or pearl, sometimes costs extra. Payment method: cash, a loan, a lease or exchanging your old car.
What to put in your request
- Model — make and generation, for example Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
- Trim — the level and the options you need, say the top trim with automatic.
- Engine — fuel type and capacity or power.
- Gearbox — manual or automatic.
- Colour — and whether you will take another.
- Payment method — cash, a car loan, a lease for your business, exchange of your old car.
- Availability — from stock only, or to order, and what waiting time is acceptable.
- City and budget, if you want to name one.
Example: “I am looking for a new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder strong hybrid, top trim, pearl white, automatic. Paying by car loan, and I need the car in stock in Hyderabad, budget up to ₹18 lakh.”
How to compare offers
First match the trim line by line: the same engine, drive and packs. Then find out what is in the price: pre-delivery preparation, floor mats, registration plates, extra accessories that are pushed “in the package”. Ask about the manufacturer’s warranty and the service terms. Ask separately whether the discount applies only with a loan or insurance, because then the real price is different.
If it does not matter to you that the car is new, also look at used cars. To save on fuel, look at hybrid cars and electric cars.
What affects the price
Besides trim, the price depends on the drive and engine power, whether the car is in stock, and seasonal sales when the model year changes. Dealers sometimes sell last year’s stock on better terms, so you can write in your request that the year of manufacture is not important. The total also differs depending on whether you pay in cash or they take a car in exchange.
Common mistakes
The most common one is buying “from the showroom stock” under pressure of a discount without checking the manufacturing year of the car: it may have stood for a long time. Another mistake is not fixing the trim and delivery time in writing when you order. So ask the seller for a concrete list and a date.
