How to buy a paddleboard (SUP): inflatable, all-round, for two

Inflatable or rigid

Most people buy an inflatable SUP. It packs into a backpack, fits in a car boot and is easy to store in a flat. A rigid board is faster and more stable on the move, but it needs space at home and a roof rack. If you paddle on weekends on a lake or at the sea, an inflatable board is usually the more practical choice. The build decides the quality of an inflatable: boards with double-layer PVC are stiffer and last longer than the very cheapest ones, and the inflation pressure is printed on the board itself.

Size and load capacity

Board length is given in feet: 10’6” (about 320 cm) is the all-round size. Longer boards are faster over distance, shorter ones turn more easily. Width and thickness give stability, so a beginner is better off with a wider board. Look separately at the maximum rider weight. If you are heavier, or you will paddle with a friend, a child or a dog, keep a clear margin on load capacity, otherwise the board will sit low in the water.

What comes in the set

The price often depends on what is included. A full set usually has a paddle, a pump, a leash (safety cord), a carry bag, a fin and a repair kit. Some sellers offer only the board, so comparing prices without looking at the set is not fair. Paddles come in aluminium, carbon or fibreglass, and a lighter paddle tires your arms less.

What to put in your request

  • type of board — inflatable or rigid, all-round, touring, yoga, for two;
  • size — length, for example 10’6”;
  • load capacity — rider weight or number of people;
  • what is in the set — paddle, pump, leash, bag;
  • brand and model, if you have already chosen;
  • level — beginner, child, casual paddler;
  • condition, budget and delivery city.

Example: “Looking for a new inflatable all-round SUP, 10’6”, for a beginner, up to 120 kg, with a paddle, pump and backpack. Courier delivery to Mumbai. Budget up to ₹30,000.”

How to compare offers

On BlaBlaPrice you write one request, and sellers reply in the chat with a price, what is in the set and delivery. The platform shows the offer that is best on the merits first, and you can see reviews next to each seller. Sellers can see where they stand among the others, so they compete for your request. Your phone number stays hidden until you choose who gets it.

Compare the same sizes and the same sets. For a used board, ask how many seasons it has had and whether it was ever punctured or patched, and ask for a photo or video of it inflated, so you can see the glued seams. Always ask about the inflation pressure and the warranty on the glue. For a wider choice, open water sports, and for time outdoors have a look at trekking and camping. We explain how the service works on the “How it works” page.
