Cosmetics, perfume and care: how to buy originals at a good price
In cosmetics, what you actually hold in your hand matters
The same perfume or cream can cost very different amounts depending on the seller, the volume, the country of origin and the expiry date. And this segment has many fakes. So first decide which product you need and for which skin or hair type, and only then compare offers.
The section covers different needs, each with its own points to consider: perfume, facial care, make-up, hair care and hair dye. There are also body care, oral care, shaving products, hygiene products and manicure tools.
What to put in your request
- Product and brand — the exact name, line, series, shade or number.
- Volume or weight — for example, 50 ml, 100 ml or a set.
- Skin or hair type — dry, oily, sensitive, coloured, curly.
- For perfume — format (eau de parfum, eau de toilette), scent, tester or boxed.
- For hair dye — shade number, base, developer, volume.
- Authenticity — that you need an original with proof.
- Expiry date — the minimum time left.
- Allergies and restrictions — paraben-free, sulphate-free, fragrance-free.
- City, delivery and budget.
How to compare offers
You write a request on BlaBlaPrice, and sellers reply in the chat: what exactly they offer, the price, where the goods come from, how they deliver. BlaBlaPrice compares the replies and shows the one with the best value first, with reviews of the seller next to each. Sellers see where they stand among the others and compete for your request, so the terms often improve.
Compare like with like: the same volume, format and what's included. Perfume in a sealed box and a tester are different products, as are an original bottle and a decant. Ask about the expiry date and storage conditions, and whether the seller will send a photo of the packaging with the batch number.
How not to fall for a fake
- A suspiciously low price on a famous brand is a reason to be wary.
- Check the barcode, the batch number, the print quality on the packaging and the smell.
- Ask for proof of origin: from an authorised distributor or shop.
- Keep the bill and photos of the packaging in case of a complaint.
How much to buy
A big volume usually gives a lower price per millilitre, but only if you will use it up before the expiry date. Perfume in a big bottle usually keeps for a long time, while a cream with active ingredients is better bought in a smaller pack. Gift sets can be better value than single products, but only when you need every item in them.
Common mistakes
People choose a product by reviews without taking their own skin or hair type into account. They buy hair dye without checking the shade and the developer. They ignore the expiry date, especially on cosmetics with active ingredients. For sensitive skin and for medical conditions, it is better to consult a dermatologist or a doctor. Another mistake is not counting the price per millilitre: sets and mini sizes can turn out poor value.
