Eye doctor and laser eye surgery: how to compare clinics and prices
An eye check-up and surgery are different things
“Seeing an eye doctor” can mean a simple eye test with a prescription for glasses or lenses, treatment for dry eyes, monitoring of glaucoma, or surgery: laser vision correction or lens replacement for cataract. The doctor, the equipment and the price all depend on which one you need.
Laser correction is not done for everyone. It suits you after an examination, when your vision is stable and your cornea is thick enough. The surgeon makes the final decision after the tests, so do not rely on advertisements alone.
What to include in your request
- Service — check-up, glasses or lens fitting, laser correction, cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment.
- Complaints or diagnosis — myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism with the power, dry eyes, redness.
- Surgery method — LASIK, Femto-LASIK, SMILE, PRK or the type of intraocular lens, if you know.
- One eye or both.
- Patient — adult, or child with age.
- Tests — whether you need the full pre-operative tests or have already done them.
- When, and city and area.
- Doctor or clinic — the surgeon's experience, level of equipment.
- Budget, if you want to state it.
Example: “I need laser vision correction for both eyes, Femto-LASIK, myopia −4 with astigmatism. I need the full pre-operative tests. Mumbai, in the next few days, a surgeon with 1000+ operations. Budget up to ₹80,000 for both eyes.”
How to compare offers
The most important thing is what the price includes. Clinic A may quote only the surgery, while clinic B also includes tests, eye drops and post-operative visits. Ask about everything: examinations before surgery, medicines afterwards, follow-up check-ups, and what happens if a touch-up is needed.
- Method and equipment: which laser, and why this method suits you.
- Surgeon: experience, and whether they operate personally.
- Whether the consultation before you decide is free or paid.
- Recovery period: restrictions, healing time, a contact for your questions.
Common mistakes
People look only at a low price and ignore the tests. They forget to mention contact lens use: before the examination you usually have to stop wearing them for a while, so check with the clinic. They forget eye diseases and general medical conditions. For a child, it is better to have vision checked by a paediatric eye doctor.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write your request once, and clinics and doctors in your city reply in chat with offers: what is included, what it costs, when they can see you. They see where they stand among the others and can improve their terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the best-value offer first, reviews are visible alongside, and your phone number stays hidden until you choose a clinic. More on “How it works”.
