Caps, beanies and hats: how to choose headwear and not go wrong
Headwear is chosen by season and size
A beanie, cap or hat looks simple until you have to pick the size and material. Head circumference differs by a few centimetres from person to person, and brands' size charts don't match. So before buying, measure your head with a tape and know what the headwear is for: winter, sun protection, sport or part of a look.
The section has many kinds. For the cold season there are beanies, hat, scarf and glove sets, balaclavas and fur earmuffs, which matter in north India and the hills. For summer there are baseball caps and peaked caps and panama hats. And for a classic look, hats and berets.
What to put in your request
- Type — beanie, baseball cap, panama, felt hat, beret, neck buff.
- Head circumference — in centimetres along the forehead line; otherwise give the size S, M, L.
- Season — summer, light, winter; whether you need a lining (fleece, sheep wool).
- Material — acrylic, wool, merino wool, cotton, linen, felt, cashmere.
- Colour and style — classic, sporty, military; with or without a logo.
- For whom — man, woman, child, teenager.
- Features — protection from wind, UV, moisture, sweat-wicking.
- Quantity — one piece, or a batch for a team or gifts.
- City, delivery and budget.
How to compare offers
You describe your need once on BlaBlaPrice, and sellers reply in the chat with price, available sizes, photos and delivery terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the offer with the best value first, and reviews of the seller are next to each. Sellers see where they stand among the others and compete, so terms often get better.
Compare the fabric composition, not only the price. A pure acrylic beanie and a beanie with a wool base are different products: the first is more durable and dries more easily, the second is warmer but may itch. Ask about size: an adjustable strap on a cap or elastic in a beanie gives room, but a felt hat has no room, so the size must be exact.
Materials and care
- Wool and merino wool: warm and breathable, but need gentle washing.
- Acrylic and fleece linings: light, dry quickly, less fussy.
- Cotton and linen: good for summer, but give less protection from wind.
- Felt: holds its shape but fears moisture, and is best cleaned with a soft brush.
For a team, school or gifts
If you need a few dozen caps or beanies with embroidery or print, say so separately in your request. State the quantity, sizes, the method of marking you want (embroidery, print, patch), whether you have a ready design and the date you need the order by. Sellers will cost the batch and tell you about the minimum order.
Common mistakes
People often buy by height or their usual size without measuring the head. Another mistake is choosing only by looks and ignoring the fabric: in a winter beanie of thin acrylic your head gets cold. Also don't forget the shade and the shape of the face; if you are unsure, pick universal neutral colours.
