Women's Loafers, Moccasins and Slip-ons: How to Choose and Buy
Moccasins, loafers, slip-ons: what is the difference
Moccasins have a soft sole and a typical leather “saddle” over the toe, and are comfortable in warm weather. Loafers are classic laceless low shoes with a firmer sole and a small heel; they are worn to the office or under trousers. Slip-ons are light sporty or fabric shoes without fastenings that you simply pull on.
The chunky sole that is trendy now makes loafers taller and heavier. It looks bold, but walking a long time in such shoes is more tiring.
Material and fit
Genuine leather stretches over time and adapts to the foot, so it is better to buy it snug, not “with room to spare”. Suede is beautiful but fears moisture, and needs a protective spray. Faux leather is cheaper but lets air through less. Fabric slip-ons are light and can often be washed, but hold their shape less well.
Since shoes without laces stay on your foot only because of their shape, it is very important to get the size and width right. The most reliable way is to give the insole length and say whether you have a wide foot.
What to put in your request
- type — moccasins, loafers or slip-ons;
- material — leather, suede, faux leather, fabric;
- size — UK or EU size, ideally with the insole length;
- sole — flat, platform, chunky;
- brand — for example Tamaris, if you want a specific one;
- colour — beige, black, burgundy;
- condition — new or second-hand in good condition;
- budget and the city for delivery.
Example: “I am looking for new leather loafers on a chunky sole, beige, size EU 38 (insole 24.5 cm). Delivery to Hyderabad. Budget up to ₹5,000.”
How to compare offers
Create a request on BlaBlaPrice in your own words. Shops and private footwear sellers reply in the chat with models, prices and delivery, and the system shows the best offer first. Sellers can see where their offer stands among the others and may lower the price or add terms. Your phone number stays hidden, and how everything works is described in the “How it works” section.
When comparing, look at the lining and insole material (leather is more comfortable), at the stitching around the edge of the sole and at whether the sole is stitched or glued. For second-hand, ask for photos of the heels and the inside: that is where real wear shows.
For another season, look at boots and ankle boots or court shoes, and for a sporty look, trainers and canvas shoes.
