Order a logo and brand identity: how to get good-value offers

A logo, a brand book and applications are not the same thing

When a designer names a price, it is important to understand what exactly is in it. A logo is a mark, sometimes with the name written out and several versions (colour, black and white, horizontal, square). A brand identity adds colours, fonts, patterns, usage rules, and mock-ups of applications: visiting cards, letterheads, a signboard, a menu, packaging.

So before you write a request, decide whether a mark is enough or you need a whole system. For a cafe or a beauty studio you usually need more than a picture for social media.

How it works on BlaBlaPrice

Instead of messaging dozens of designers, you write one request: what the business does, what you need, which style you like. You can add one photo or reference. Designers send offers in the chat: price, how many options and revisions, timing, examples. They compete, and you see reviews of each one. Contacts are opened only to the designer you choose.

What to put in your request

  • What you need — only a logo or a brand identity too.
  • Line of business — for example, a cafe, a lawyer, a children's centre; who your audience is.
  • Options and revisions — how many concepts and rounds of changes you expect.
  • Style and references — minimalism, warm colours, examples of marks you like.
  • Applications — visiting cards, signboard, menu, social media, packaging.
  • Files and rights — source files in vector (AI, SVG, PDF) and transfer of rights.
  • Portfolio — examples of similar work.
  • Timing and budget — when you need it and the sum, if you want to name one.

Example: “I am opening a cafe in Pune, Koregaon Park. I need a logo and brand identity: visiting cards, signboard, menu. Style: minimalism, warm colours. 3 options, 2 rounds of revisions, source files in vector. I want a portfolio of logos, deadline 10 days, budget up to ₹15,000.”

How to compare offers

What matters most is what is in the package. Look at the number of concepts, revisions, file formats and whether the rights to the logo are transferred. Without vector source files you cannot print the mark in a large size or hand it to an embroiderer.

In a portfolio, look not only at the beauty but at the variety: are all the marks similar to each other? Ask how the designer checks that the logo is unique and does not copy someone else's.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering a logo without knowing where it will go: on a signboard, on social media, on a stamp.
  • Choosing a very complex mark with thin lines, which is hard to read at small sizes.
  • Not stating references you dislike: this saves revisions.
  • Not discussing rights and source files before the work starts.

If you need layouts next, go to print and banner design, and for a website or app there is UI/UX design. More on the “How it works” page.

Questions and answers

How many logo options are usually offered?

It depends on the designer: some show several concepts, some one with refinements. Write how many you want in your request and compare.

What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity?

A logo is a mark. A brand identity adds colours, fonts, rules and mock-ups of applications so that the business looks consistent.

Which files should I ask for?

Vector (AI, SVG, PDF) and raster versions. Vector is needed for printing at any size.

Who sees my contacts?

Only the designer you choose, and only through the channels you give yourself.
