Paint-by-numbers and diamond painting: how to choose a kit
Mosaic or painting: what do you want to do
These are two different pastimes. In paint-by-numbers you fill the canvas with paint following numbered outlines. In diamond painting you place small crystals, or drills, one by one on a sticky base, each in the right colour. The first is closer to drawing, the second is more like careful assembly.
What to look at in a kit
For diamond painting, there is a full drill, where the whole canvas is covered, and a partial one, where drills fill only some areas. Drills come round or square: square ones sit tighter and look neater, while round ones are easier for a beginner. Check the number of colours, because the more there are, the longer and harder the work.
For paint-by-numbers, see what the canvas is on: a stretcher frame or a board. On a frame the picture is ready for the wall at once. Also ask how many paints are in the kit, whether brushes are included, and whether the pots dry out.
What to put in your request
- What exactly — paint-by-numbers or diamond painting;
- Canvas size in centimetres;
- Subject — landscape, flowers, animals, a religious picture, a city;
- From your own photo, if you want a custom kit;
- Features — full or partial drill, round or square drills, a frame or board;
- Difficulty and who will do it: a child, a beginner or an experienced person;
- Manufacturer, if you have a preference;
- Number of kits;
- Budget and city for delivery.
Example: “Looking for a diamond painting kit of 40×50 cm, a landscape, full drill, square drills, medium difficulty. Courier delivery to Jaipur, budget up to ₹1,200.”
How to compare offers
Make sure you compare kits of the same size and drill type. Ask whether spare drills are included, whether the pattern on the canvas is printed clearly, and whether the sticky base is good quality. For a gift, kits with a frame or stretcher are convenient.
A typical mistake is picking too fine a detail for a first project: such a picture takes weeks. Do not forget good light and a table to work on.
A custom kit from your photo
If you want a mosaic from your own photo, send a clear, good-quality image and say the size and drill type. Sellers will give the production time and the cost, and you can compare them.
How BlaBlaPrice works
You describe your request once, and sellers of kits answer in the chat with prices and photos. They see where their offer stands and can improve their terms. Contacts stay hidden until you choose, and you can read more on How it works.
