Men's shorts for summer: cargo, denim, Bermuda and beach
Length and type decide everything
Shorts for a beach holiday and shorts for the office are different purchases. Beach shorts are made of quick-drying polyester and often have an inner mesh lining. Cargo shorts have side pockets and hold their shape, denim ones look stylish but are heavier in the heat. Bermudas, to the knee or just below, help if you want a balanced look. Linen and light cotton are the best choice for city heat.
Length matters too: shorts above the knee show more, and longer ones balance the proportions. Think about where you will wear them. For the beach and the city it is better to have different pairs: beach shorts with mesh lining look out of place in town, and denim ones are awkward near water. Look at the waistband as well: an elastic waist with a drawstring is comfortable in the heat, and a classic button waistband looks neater.
What to put in your request
- type: denim, cargo, sports, beach, Bermuda, classic;
- size: waist (W32), numeric or letter;

Example: “I need new men's cargo shorts in light cotton, beige, knee length, loose fit. Size W34. Delivery to Bengaluru by courier, inspection before payment. Budget up to ₹1,500.”
How BlaBlaPrice works for such purchases
Shorts are a seasonal item, and in season sellers are glad to compete for a buyer. You write a request, and clothing sellers reply in the chat: whether they are in stock, the fabric, photos, price and delivery. They see where their offer stands and sharpen their terms. Your personal contacts stay hidden until you choose a seller.
What to compare
- Fabric: denim with elastane is more comfortable, pure cotton lasts longer, and linen creases but is the coolest.
- Fit: at the waist or lower; elastic with drawstring or a button waistband.
- For beach shorts: whether they dry fast, whether there is a mesh lining, and whether the colour holds after salt water.
- Pockets: depth, fastenings on cargo pockets, and how well they hold a phone.
- For second-hand: wear at the seams, and the state of the zip and waistband.
Mistakes
People take the size they wear in jeans, although shorts fit differently. They forget that linen and cotton can shrink. They buy beach shorts in cotton, which dry slowly. They choose ones that are too short and then do not wear them.
Shorts go with T-shirts and vests and light polo shirts. For cooler days, look at trousers. How it all works is on the “How it works” page.
