Action camera: how to choose for your sport and buy well
Start with the shooting scenario
An action camera is bought for a particular activity, and that decides the choice. For a motorcycle or bicycle, stabilisation and a mount for a helmet or handlebar matter. For skiing and snowboarding, it must work in the cold and with gloves on. For diving you need a housing or built-in waterproofing, and good colour underwater. For vlogs you will want a front screen and good sound.
What sets models apart
- Resolution and frame rate: 4K 60 fps is enough for most people; 5.3K or 8K are needed less often and take up more space on the card.
- Stabilisation: electronic stabilisation (HyperSmooth and similar) makes motion smooth; for biking it is almost a must.
- Waterproofing: some cameras are waterproof without a case, others need an extra underwater housing.
- 360° cameras record everything around you, and you pick the angle later when editing.
- Battery: it drains faster in the cold, so take a spare for winter and long shoots.
Do not forget protection: a broken screen or lens is a common story for skiers and bikers, so screen glass and a case are worthwhile. An underwater housing needs a clean seal, and in the cold it is better to keep the camera close to your body.

How to compare offers
The biggest difference is in what is included. A camera is often sold “bare”, while mounts, card and batteries cost extra. So compare the same set. Also ask whether the camera is official and whether the warranty is valid.
With a used one, check the lens glass, the seals (if the camera is waterproof) and the battery health. If the camera has been in the sea, ask whether it was rinsed with fresh water: without that its contacts corrode faster.
How BlaBlaPrice helps
Instead of scrolling through similar listings, create a request. Sellers reply in a chat with the model, price, what is included and delivery, and the platform shows the best offer by content first. Reviews are visible beside each seller, and contacts stay hidden until you choose. More on the “How it works” page.
With an action camera it is handy to add accessories and monopods, and for other shooting see camcorders.
