Car alarm, GPS tracker or lock: how to order with fitting
Alarm, immobiliser, GPS or mechanical lock
Protecting a car usually has several layers. An alarm with a siren warns of a break-in. An immobiliser blocks the engine from starting. A GPS tracker helps you find the car if it has already been taken. Mechanical locks (on the bonnet, gearbox or steering wheel) are a physical obstacle that a program cannot break. It is safer to combine the electronic and mechanical parts than to rely on one.
Remote start: what to look at
If you want to start the engine from a key fob or a phone, the type of start and the gearbox matter first. For a car with a Start-Stop button and for an automatic, the kit and the wiring differ. With a manual gearbox, remote start needs extra safety measures, and not every alarm allows it. So in the request always give the exact model, year, engine, gearbox type and way of starting.
Check the connection too: a radio key fob works at a distance, while a GSM module and an app give control from your phone anywhere, but need a SIM card and a monthly connection fee. Some alarms connect through CAN to the car's own data bus, with fewer wires and a more complex but cleaner integration.
What to put in the request
- Type of system: alarm with or without remote start, immobiliser, GPS tracker, mechanical lock.
- Car model and year, for example Toyota Fortuner, 2016.
- Type of start: key or Start-Stop button.
- Gearbox: manual or automatic.
- Features: phone control, GPS, two-way key fob, CAN, tilt and motion sensors.
- System model, if you have already chosen one.
- Fitting: needed or not, and in which city.
- Budget: separately for the device and the fitting, or overall.
Example: “I am looking for an alarm with remote start, phone control and GPS for a 2016 Toyota Fortuner, push-button start, automatic. I need fitting in Hyderabad, budget up to ₹25,000 including fitting.”
What to compare in offers
The commonest mistake is comparing only the price of the device. Find out whether fitting, the SIM card and the app connection are included, how long the warranty is on the device and on the fitting itself, and whether the car's factory warranty and its standard wiring will stay intact. Ask who exactly does the fitting and where, because the quality of the work decides whether the system drains the battery or gives false alarms. Agree on hidden placement of the modules: the less obvious, the harder to disable.
How BlaBlaPrice helps
You write a request once, and sellers and installers reply in the chat: what they offer, what the device and fitting cost, when they can do it. The site shows the best offer first, with reviews beside it. Contacts are hidden, and you exchange them only with the one you choose. More is on the “How it works” page.
For long trips, car air compressors and other car accessories are also useful.
