Electric kettle: how to choose and buy well
What makes up the price of a kettle
A kettle seems a simple thing, but prices differ a lot between models. They are shaped by the body material, temperature control, the brand and the warranty. A plain plastic 1.7 l kettle and a smart model with an app are completely different purchases, so don't mix them in one request.
Material and safety
- Glass: you can see the water level and the limescale, and there is often a light. The glass must be heat-resistant.
- Stainless steel: strong, doesn't break, but gets hotter on the outside unless it has double walls.
- Ceramic: pretty and keeps the heat, but heavier and fragile.
- Plastic: the cheapest. It shouldn't smell of “chemicals” after the first boil, and if the smell doesn't go away, that is a bad sign.
Look at the heating element: a concealed element (a flat base) is easier to descale than an open coil. Ask separately about auto switch-off when the water boils and when the kettle is empty.
Capacity, power and features
For one or two people 1–1.5 l is enough, for a family 1.7 l and more. Power is usually 1800–2400 W: the higher it is, the faster it boils, but it matters if your wiring is weak. Temperature control with a choice of settings is useful if you brew green tea or prepare formula for a baby. A keep-warm function is handy, but not always needed.
What to put in your request
- Model — brand and exact name, if you know it.
- Capacity — for example, 1.7 l.
- Body material — glass, stainless steel, ceramic or plastic.
- Functions — temperature choice, keep-warm, control from a smartphone.
- Power and colour.
- New or used and the warranty you need.
- Delivery — courier or pick-up, and your city.
- Budget, if you want to name one.
Example: “I need a new 1.7 l glass electric kettle with temperature choice and keep-warm, power from 2000 W. Brand warranty, courier delivery to Jaipur. Budget up to ₹3,000.”
How BlaBlaPrice helps
Instead of scrolling through dozens of similar cards, you describe the kettle once. Sellers reply in chat with the exact model, price, and the delivery and warranty terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the best-value offer first, and reviews of the seller are visible next to it. Nobody sees your phone number until you choose a seller. If you are curious how it all works, read How it works.
What to look at when comparing
Make sure the offers match in capacity, material and temperature control. Ask whether there is a brand warranty and whether you can exchange the item if it is faulty. Two models that look the same may have different heating elements.
