Office furniture: how to fit out workstations at a good price
The chair is the main purchase
A person spends many hours at a desk, so the chair affects wellbeing and productivity more than anything else. Look at seat height adjustment, lumbar support, armrests and seat depth. A mesh back ventilates well, which matters in an Indian summer; fabric is softer; faux leather is easy to clean but can be hot. For long work people often choose ergonomic models, while a manager's chair is also bought for looks. If you have back problems, talk to a doctor.
Desks and storage
An ordinary desk suits most people, and a height-adjustable desk lets you alternate sitting and standing. For open-plan space, people take bench desks for several seats or with partitions. For storage there are cupboards, shelving and lockable pedestals: it depends on how many documents you have and the security needs.
How it works with BlaBlaPrice
For an office it is important to compare offers from several suppliers, especially when the order is for ten workstations. You write one request, and sellers reply in the chat: models, price per seat, lead times, delivery, assembly. They can see where their offer stands and compete on terms, so a bulk order often works out better. Only the one you choose gets your contacts. Read more: how it works.
What to put in your request
- What exactly — desk, office or gaming chair, shelving, document cupboard, reception desk.
- Quantity of items or workstations.
- Sizes — desk 140×70 cm, office area.
- Features — height adjustment, armrests, lumbar support, mesh, locks.
- Material — particle board, metal frame, upholstery.
- New or second-hand.
- Delivery, carrying up and assembly.
- City and budget (per seat or total).
Example: “I need to fit out 10 workstations: 140×70 cm desks and ergonomic chairs with armrests and a mesh back. New, delivery to an office in Gurugram with carrying up and assembly. Budget up to ₹10,000 per seat.”
What to compare
If you buy many identical pieces, agree on a price for the batch and on the same production batch, so shades and upholstery match. Check the warranty on the chair mechanism and gas lift: this is the part that breaks first. Ask about the maximum load and whether individual parts can be replaced.
Check the paperwork for business: a GST invoice and a delivery note. For second-hand office furniture, ask for photos, especially of the mechanisms and upholstery, and find out where it came from. Sometimes it pays to take second-hand desks from closed offices and new chairs.
Common mistakes
- Buying cheap chairs for daily work: they soon have to be replaced.
- Not measuring the office and not counting the walkways between desks.
- Not allowing for cable management and sockets near the desk.
- Taking different shades from different batches.
