Permanent makeup for brows, lips and eyeliner: how to choose an artist and price
The technique matters more than the name of the treatment
Permanent makeup means pigment in the skin, so an artist's mistake takes a long time to fix and not always fully. That is why you should compare not just the price but also the technique and experience. For brows, common choices are powder shading (a soft "shadow"), hair strokes and microblading. For lips, there is the watercolour technique or colour blending. For eyes, there is lash-line enhancement or a blended liner.
The result heals over several weeks: the colour is bright at first, then fades lighter. So a touch-up after a month to six weeks is a normal part of the process, and its terms should be agreed up front.
What to put in your request
- Area — brows, lips, eyeliner or eyelids.
- Technique — powder shading, hair strokes, microblading, watercolour.
- First time or touch-up — whether the touch-up is in the price, or whether this is a refresh of old work or a cover-up of someone else's.
- Colour — natural, pink, cool or warm shade.
- Date and time.
- Area of the city.
- Artist's experience — for example, a portfolio of healed work.
- Budget, if you want to share it.
Example: “I want powder brows, first time, with a touch-up after a month. Natural colour, no sharp lines. Mumbai, Powai, Saturday at 12:00. I need an artist with a portfolio of healed work, budget up to ₹8,000.”
How to compare offers
- Touch-up: is it in the price, and within what period? A low price sometimes does not include even the first touch-up.
- Portfolio: look at healed results, not fresh photos, because they look different.
- Pigments and tools: what they use, whether the needles are single-use, and how they prepare the workspace.
- Consultation and sketch: a good artist draws the shape before the procedure and agrees it with you.
Mistakes and precautions
The biggest mistake is choosing the lowest price without looking at healed work. The second is not mentioning allergies, skin conditions, pregnancy or infections: in such cases the procedure may be postponed. Another is agreeing the shape on the day without discussing it. Covering someone else's permanent makeup is harder, so the price and result depend on how the old work sits.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write your request once, and artists in your city reply with offers in the chat, with prices and terms. They see where their offer ranks and often improve their terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the best-value offer first, reviews appear alongside, and contacts stay hidden until you choose an artist. Read more on “How it works”.
