Motorcycle stands and lifts: which to choose and where to buy

What you need a stand for

A paddock stand lifts the rear or front wheel: this is how you lube the chain, change a wheel or wash the rims. A lift table or a scissor jack raises the whole motorcycle to working height, and you can work standing up. There are separate jacks for quad bikes. A wheel chock holds the bike upright in a vehicle or in a parking spot.

The choice depends on what you do most often. If you lube the chain once every few weeks, a cheap rear stand is enough. For regular repairs in a garage, a lift is better.

Parameters that matter

  • Load capacity: take it with a margin over the bike's weight with fluids and gear.
  • Drive: hydraulic lifts smoothly, pneumatic needs a compressor, mechanical is simpler and cheaper.
  • Lifting height: a comfortable working height, for example 80 cm, saves your back.
  • Type of fixing: stands for the axle, for the swingarm with hooks or fork holders do not suit every model.
  • Stability and width of the base: the most important for safety.

What to put in your request

  • Type of stand — rear, front, lift table, scissor jack, chock, quad bike jack.
  • Motorcycle model — sports bike, enduro, heavy tourer, for example Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
  • Load capacity — in kg, for example up to 500 kg.
  • Drive — hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical.
  • Lifting height.
  • New or used.
  • Delivery city and budget.

Example: “I need a rear paddock stand for a Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 with swingarm hooks, new. Delivery to Mumbai, budget up to ₹12,000.”

How to compare offers

A lift is about safety, so do not choose by price alone. Check the stated load capacity, the thickness of the metal and the locks that guard against it dropping. Ask about the weight of the device and its size, especially if your garage is tight: a table may not fit. For a used one, make sure the hydraulics do not leak and the welds have no cracks.

Delivery of heavy cargo, such as a lift table, costs different amounts with different couriers. Find out the price before you place the order.

Finally, check the size of the platform against the width of the tyres and the ground clearance of the bike: low sports bikes with fairings do not always take a universal lift, and an axle stand may not fit if the bike has no suitable spools.

How it works on BlaBlaPrice

You write one request, and sellers answer in chat with models, prices and delivery terms. The platform compares the answers and shows the best one for your request first. Your contacts are hidden. There is also the “How it works” page.

For the garage you will also need tools for your motorcycle, and for a fresh look after servicing, stickers or new mirrors.

Questions and answers

Which stand do I need to lube the chain?

A rear paddock stand is enough. It lifts the rear wheel and lets you spin it by hand.

How do I choose the load capacity?

Take a margin over the bike's weight with fluids. For heavy tourers, check the permitted load in the specification.

Is it safe to buy a used lift?

You can, but check the hydraulics, the welds and the locks. Ask for a video of it working.

Does the buyer pay for the search?

No, it is free for the buyer.
