Sofa and carpet cleaning: how to book a home visit
First find out the material and the stain
The material decides both the method and the price. Velvet and microfibre are cleaned differently from leather. A wool or hand-knotted carpet cannot simply be soaked in chemicals: it is often cleaned at a workshop, not at home. A synthetic carpet is simpler.
The same goes for stains. Fresh wine or coffee comes out more easily. Old stains and pet odour need separate treatment, and nobody can guarantee a perfect result. An honest professional will tell you this beforehand.
At home or at the workshop
- Home visit — for sofas, armchairs and mattresses that will not go to a workshop. The furniture takes a few hours to dry.
- Workshop with pickup — suits carpets, which can be washed and dried thoroughly. Ask about the return time and whether delivery is included.
Some companies do both. State plainly in your request which suits you better.
How to order through BlaBlaPrice
You describe the job in your own words and add one photo, for example of the stains or the whole sofa. BlaBlaPrice checks the request and points out what the professionals are missing. Companies and cleaners in your city reply in the chat: the price or what it depends on, whether they make home visits, and when they can come. They see where their offer stands, so they often improve their terms. Reviews next to the offers help you choose. Contacts are visible only to the one you choose. More in how it works.
What to include in your request
- What to clean — sofa, armchairs, chairs, mattress, carpet, runner.
- Size or quantity — a 9 × 12 ft carpet, number of seats on the sofa.
- Material — velvet, leather, wool, synthetic.
- Dirt — stains, cat odour, wine, a general freshen-up.
- Home visit or pickup, area, day and budget.
Example: “Bengaluru, Whitefield. A corner velvet sofa and 2 armchairs, with stains and cat odour. Cleaning at my home, preferably at the weekend. Budget up to ₹3,000.”
What to look at in the offers
The price is often counted per seat, per square foot of carpet or per item. Make sure everyone counts the same way, otherwise the comparison is false. Ask whether there is a minimum order for a home visit and whether odour treatment or a protective coating is included.
Ask how long the sofa takes to dry, when you can use it again, and whether they use products safe for children and pets. After cleaning, let the furniture dry with the windows open, and in the humid monsoon season allow extra time.
If the upholstery is worn out, consider repair or reupholstery, and look for washing of clothes and textiles in the category “Dry cleaning & laundry”.
